Wellllll hellooooo there, Gale.

Posted by: Coldwater at October 27, 2011 8:05 PM

is the size comparison of the Peetah and Gale posters you taking sides in the love triangle debate???

Posted by: the chaplain at October 27, 2011 8:08 PM

Count down to Battle Royale argument?

Posted by: googergieger at October 27, 2011 8:09 PM

Effie looks the awesomest.

Posted by: joe at October 27, 2011 8:13 PM

Gale does look mighty fine, but the way they 'shopped his neck makes it look giraffe-like. I am DELIGHTED with Effie's makeup, however, and will reserve judgment on Kravitz as Cinna until I hear him speak. I need to read the books again.

Posted by: Pinky McLadybits at October 27, 2011 8:21 PM

Note: haven't read the books.

That said, these look pretty awesome, except this Cato character: really? This is the dystopian future? These children are struggling to survive? WHERE DID HE GET THE HAIR GEL??!!1?

Posted by: MM at October 27, 2011 8:48 PM

Ah yes, now I remember doing this photo series! And of course, my favourite is the last one.

Posted by: Michael Murray at October 27, 2011 8:51 PM

@MM: They're not all struggling to survive, only certain areas (districts).

Posted by: Me at October 27, 2011 9:26 PM

honestly, these posters do not convince me at all, I think they are quite dull. The movie is about surviving, isn't it? but characters are so tidy, perfect, photoshopped and all that they lose appeal.

Posted by: Sarah at October 27, 2011 9:28 PM

What Battle Royale argument? Only one book can pit young people against each other? They're very different novels.

Posted by: Robert at October 27, 2011 9:32 PM

Sarah is right. They should show before and AFTER they start the game. One all slick, the other ragged as f*ck.

Posted by: Optimus Rhyme at October 27, 2011 9:38 PM

I believe you. I haven't read Hunger Games cause well, I'm not interested in reading it. However, most places that bring up Hunger Games, sooner or later run into people bringing up the Battle Royale thing.

Personally, I don't care for either. I remember enjoying the manga. Though I read that way back when. I didn't enjoy the movie. Not enough sex/violence for me. Considering the premise and all...

Posted by: googergieger at October 27, 2011 9:51 PM

I don't know about the logo.

Posted by: Bob's your Uncle at October 27, 2011 11:22 PM

these are some pretty bland pictures of bland people in profile. they seem like really lazy efforts. and for "character" posters" making a bunch of identical pictures, while employing some vague style, does nothing for creating images of unique individual characters.

someone was probably paid a lot of money to make these. sigh.

i think these posters are for the people who love the books, and they say nothing more than "hey, the characters you love are in this movie, here they are by name!"

Posted by: idleprimate at October 27, 2011 11:50 PM

Hi, sweety. My friends told me about sugarmingle– č0 /Μ. She told me it is the best place to meet rich man and hot lady whoever you want. I have tried. It is fantastic. You wanna get laid tonight? Come in and give it a shot, you will find someone you like there. Have fun! You may find me there! ;)

Posted by: Dancy at October 27, 2011 11:52 PM

I know it's hard to think of names for people when you write but what the fuck?

Posted by: arrrghzi at October 28, 2011 12:37 AM

Why the sighing and moon eyes over Gale? Seriously, please explain what I'm missing... I don't understand the llama love for that kid from Twilight either (not here, of course. The cool kids don't like him, so the entire site therefore doesn't like him either.) Heavy brow, squinty eyes, big lips, strangely elongated neck... is that the latest criteria for manly beauty?

Anyway, the posters don't really do it for me except for Rue because I love the hell out of that character and the actress they chose to play her is lovely but I'm still really excited about the movie.

Posted by: snapnhiss at October 28, 2011 7:03 AM

I really wish these weren't so clean and airbrushed to within an inch of their lives. This is a really, brutally harsh series, and this is super sanitized (which is what I'm afraid will happen with a PG 13 film series). I hope the movies themselves aren't this glossy or it's going to miss a lot.

Posted by: KatSings at October 28, 2011 8:35 AM

Harrelson as Haymitch? That's pretty much perfect casting right there.

Posted by: Kristen at October 28, 2011 8:59 AM

I would have went with Katniss in her Fire dress. Cinna should be more flamboyant. I don't even remember who Cato was, I'd rather see Foxface.

The only one I dig is Effie. I'm really looking forward to seeing Banks tear up that role. Especially to see how she handles the changes in Mockingjay. More than anything, I want to see how Lawrence is going to do. She was amazing in Winters Bone, and I pegged her after than to be the perfect choice for Katniss. BUT, this is a hell of a tricky role because Katniss is really not the most likable person. Understandably so after what she goes through, but I'm really nervous because if they get her wrong, the whole thing will fail.

Posted by: TylerDFC at October 28, 2011 9:58 AM

I just want to see Finnick in his fish net outfit.

Posted by: shawnp at October 28, 2011 10:00 AM

Really happy about Woody in the Haymitch role, I think that is the best casting right there. I also think that Lenny Kravitz was a fairly inspired bit of casting.

I think these were released just to ratchet up the anticipation. They are fairly boring and bland, but they do make me (as a fan of the books) want to see more.

Posted by: Laura at October 28, 2011 10:15 AM

The only one I was really excited to see was Cinna and he's boring. They're all so boring! I was hoping the character posters would show...character. Effie's bang-on, but the rest are just plain.

@TylerDFC: I know, where's the Foxface love? That girl was brilliant. The only thing outstanding about Cato was his bit at the cornucopia.

Posted by: halfpastoctober at October 28, 2011 11:48 AM

Maybe this says something bad about me but I had figured Cato would be Asian. I routinely skip descriptions of characters though, my brain likes to furnish those details without author input. So maybe he's supposed to be a redhead? Anyway, Thresh was more interesting and more important to the plot than Cato was.

I think I'm the only person on the internet who likes the kid cast as Peeta. He has a childlike face and a stubborn jaw, and that's enough for me.

Posted by: lisas at October 28, 2011 2:04 PM

Cato is Dennis Quaid's son, so I'm guessing the producers owe DQ some money...

Posted by: The Fatling at October 28, 2011 3:20 PM

Actually, I have to say these look spectacularly un-badass. Really. Sorry. Really sorry.

Posted by: LBeees at October 28, 2011 10:51 PM

Y'all, I grow increasingly more concerned with J.Law as Katniss. I thought she was fantastic in Winter's Bone, but Katniss is an angry, volatile character who can scrap like a motherfucker. J.Law doesn't really show turmoil at all in the stills or the clips. C'mon, J.Law, don't give us an anemic Katniss!

Posted by: Donut Plains at October 29, 2011 12:37 PM

I like it. I can't wait.

Posted by: Candy at October 29, 2011 11:50 PM

Love them all (particularly Katniss and Rue)and I really can't wait to see the film. Yeah, these are Bad Ass.

Posted by: Zozo at October 30, 2011 10:55 AM

I think a lot of people either didn't read the series or didn't get it. The super gloss, profiles, make me think of them getting ready to step out into the show at the Capitol... the gloss makes what comes next all the more horrid.
