The Hardest Thing You Could Ever Do Is Pretend to Give a Rat's Ass About the "Three Stooges" Movie

There was a time, a time not too long ago, when Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn were set to star in the Farrelly Brothers Three Stooges film. That was a time when you might have cared about the movie, which will be three 27-minute segments spliced together to create a film.

Now? Now’s not a time to care. Word is, from TheWrap, that the Brothers Farrelly have found their potential replacements: Johnny Knoxville will play Moe; Andy Samberg will play Larry, and an Australian comedian named Shane Jacobson will play Curly.

It’s probably a better line-up, commercially, since a younger generation unfamiliar with “The Three Stooges” will probably be more familiar with Knoxville and Samberg than Sean Penn and del Toro, which is embarrassing but true. I still don’t know how much interest even Knoxville and Samberg can bring to the project since many of us old enough to be familiar with The Three Stooges weren’t even that interested with the better caliber of actor. Although, those worried about the impending Idiocracy need only look back 50 or 60 years to realize that the Idiocracy has been with us all along.

This is a weird downgrade of leads. I was really looking forward to seeing Sean Penn in this.

I had zero interest in the first 6 3 Stooges.

As long as Samberg does the Samberg Face a few times and Knoxville gets a baby hippo to chew on a testicle for a bit I can just about muster up one rat buttcheek of interest.

The 3 Stooges are over rated. Yeah, I said it, wiseguy. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

Who would win in a battle, the 6 members of the Three Stooges or the 21 members of the Fantastic Four? I mean, sure, the FF have superpowers, but the Three Stooges are apparently invulnerable sociopaths. It would be quite the battle.

"invulnerable sociopaths"

My band's new (fake) name.

First, Heimdall! Now, Larry?!? The Council of Conservative Citizens is gonna lose it any minute, now!

I don't care what anybody says. The three stooges hold up, and anybody who doesn't think so is a mental midget.

True story: as a kid, my brother would watch The Three Stooges every morning before school. As a super sensitive innocent soul already horrified by the violence in the world around me, I found it needless and depressing. I wanted those other two stooges to stand up to Moe! No joke, the show would make me CRY. And I was old enough to know it was supposed to make me laugh.

Now, as an adult, I think it's fairly humorous. I don't know what that says about me, but there it is.

I also wanted to say the guy in the middle of that pic looks like the guy who was in Jackass with Johnny Knoxville. The grossest one. The one who got on drugs and stuff? Something -O? Jack-O? Douche-O? Cannot remember. Dick-O?

Anyway.

Didn't Johnny Knoxwille already do this and call it Jackass? Same thing.

I've always liked The Stooges. Especially 'Fun House'. Though the re-mix of 'Raw Power' was long overdue in my opinion.

Wait, what?

Anyboidy notice, in that clip Larry stops a spinning circular saw with his hand?

I just noticed I misspelled "anybody" but it seems apropos to leave it like that.
