The Guy Who is F**king Matt Damon Hired to Host This Year's Emmy Awards
Jimmy Kimmel has been tapped to host the Emmy Awards this year, set for September 23rd at the Nokia Theater. I don't know why Neil Patrick Harris hasn't been made lifetime host of all awards shows yet, but until he eventually is, we'll all have to suffer through a series of pale comparisons.
As pale comparisons go, however, I have nothing against Kimmel. He can be funny. He and his staff put together great pre-taped segments, and he shat all over Leno during the most recent bout of Late Night wars. For that, he gets my respect. He's also pretty good at toeing the line between kissing celebrity ass and skewering them. Celebrities seem to like him, too. He's affable, and maybe he can parlay the gig into some more viewers: He's kind of the forgotten host for the simple reason that he rarely gets into huge dramatic squabbles and, well, he comes on after "Nightline."
Don Mischer, who produced the Oscar telecast, will also produce the Emmy show. This will be his 12th time at the helm.
