The Greatest Belch in Cinematic History Was Created by a Camel Orgasm

Earlier today, I mentioned the Curtis Armstrong Nerdist podcast, in which Armstrong discussed the story behind John Cusack disavowing Better Off Dead. But there was another amazing tidbit from that podcast as well.

Now, for those of you who didn’t grow up in the 80s, you may only know Armstrong from his recurring role as the principal in New Girl. But back in the day, he was honestly a kind of groundbreaking figure: He played sympathetic nerds, and the film world wasn’t exactly brimming with them at the time.

His breakout role, of course, was on Revenge of the Nerds. One key scene in that movie involved a belching contest, in which Armstrong’s character beat a jock from one of the popular frats. It was the burp heard around the world.

Now, of course, people still come up to Armstrong and occasionally ask him to replicate the belch. The problem is, he can’t. No human can. In fact, the sound editors on Revenge of the Nerds looked everywhere for a sound effect approximating the sound of a long belch, and wouldn’t you know, they ended up finding it in the sound a camel makes while he orgasms.

Yes, the sound you hear below coming out of Curtis Armstrong’s mouth is the sound a camel makes while ejaculating.

Try to unhear that in your mind.
