The Eva Mendes Sex Tape Joke That Stopped Being Funny About 12 Hours Ago

  • Lee Pace, one of the subjects of this morning's SRL, is expected to be cast in the final Twilight film. I'd say that I no longer have any respect for him, but then I'd have to say the same thing about Michael Sheen. And it takes more than a Twilight film to tarnish what Michael Sheen and I have together. (E! News)

  • In a very related note, that final Twilight movie also has a release date now: November 16, 2012. Make your Mayan calendar jokes now.

  • And in yet another Twilight related note, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey -- producers behind the Twilight franchise -- are planning to adapt the classic children's book series Babar. If you're not familiar with Babar, I'm sure there'll be plenty of opportunities to learn before the movie is released. (Deadline)

So, it looks like "Lost" producer and director, Jack Bender, will be getting the directing gig on the new Jack Ryan movie starring Chris Pine. It's good to be friends with J.J. Abrams. (Vulture)

  • Nicolas Cage is leaving a Joel Schumacher film that only those who wrote about him joining the Schumacher film even remembered in the first place. In other words: Trade News Minutia! (Deadline)

  • Ryan Murphy called the gay couple on "Modern Family," ridiculous , and before I could write a post about the pot calling the kettle gay, it looks like Katey Rich over on Cinemablend has already taken care of it. (Cinemablend)

  • A movie based on Tom Perotta's Abstinence Teacher (a good book, but not Perotta's best) has been in development for years. Now, it looks like it might be moving ahead finally, with Sandra Bullock and Steve Carell, of all people. But I'll admit: They both kind of fit the parts. And with Jonathon Dayton and Valerie Faris (LIttle Miss Sunshine) on board to direct, it's a movie I'm actually looking forward to, should it ever get made. (The Playlist)

  • Last month, The Hollywood Cog exclusively broke news that Guillermo del Toro was developing a Van Helsing remake. He ultimately declined to pursue that project, instead opting to do Mountains of Madness, but -- as it turns out -- that Van Helsing movie actually had Tom Cruise attached as the lead, and development on it is not completely dead yet. (Vulture)

  • Finally, I leave you with Eva Mendes' Sex Tape, which is much funnier in theory than in execution (no offense against Funny or Die).
