Liveblogging the 2012 Golden Globes | Only A Real Psycho Would Think The Bates Motel Is A Good Idea For A TV Show

Comments

Louie didn't even get nominated? Everyone involved with the Golden Globes can suck a bag of dicks.

Posted by: Muffin at January 15, 2012 11:09 PM

Out of what was nominated (seriously - where is Community? huh huh), I can't argue with about 80% of what won, which is a pretty good strike rate for award shows.

Posted by: Shane at January 16, 2012 12:14 AM

generally speaking, the acceptance speeches were pretty awful.
what was meryl streep on ???

ricky gervais deserves more face time ...

Posted by: snake at January 16, 2012 12:16 AM

I'm kind of curious to know how many times Pixar has been nominated for best animated film and it didn't win. I didn't watch, but apparently the best thing was a Tina Fey photobomb. So, yay?

Posted by: Matt at January 16, 2012 12:27 AM

Rango not winning? Fuck that.

Posted by: Ben at January 16, 2012 12:33 AM

The worst part was George Clooney winning over Leonardo. :(

Posted by: Chrispeare at January 16, 2012 1:26 AM

How Breaking Bad didn't win best TV drama, and wasn't even nominated, is a fucking crime.

Posted by: Alexa at January 16, 2012 1:52 AM

Hooray Jessica Lange!!

Posted by: Paisley Poppins at January 16, 2012 3:25 AM

I'm so glad for the Tin Tin win. For me it was one of the best movies of this year and it seems to me that it was under appreciated in the USA. I'm sorry for Rango but Tin Tin was amazing!!

Posted by: marigi at January 16, 2012 5:18 AM

'Hey, Clooney! Clooney! Beware, behind you - Bob Balaban!'

In other news, it's good to see that out of the five best 'foreign language' films selected from around the entire world, apparently one of them still managed to be made in the States. That film must be really, really fucking good.

Posted by: zeke the pig at January 16, 2012 7:56 AM

Alexa: Oh yeah, it was robbed. . Breaking Bad's fourth season qualifies for this September's Emmys, at least. As if the Golden Globes were ever particularly relevant.

Zeke: As long as it's in a non-english language, it counts as a foreign language film. However, the ISP's use the Foreign Film category, as adverse to the usual foreign language category, hence why The King's Speech one last year in that category, and In the Land of Blood and Honey cannot this year.

I apologize if I sound like a know it all or something. I'm still new around here.

Posted by: Lovelyb0nes at January 16, 2012 9:09 AM

Oh, and Ben: My bitchface concurs.

Posted by: Lovelyb0nes at January 16, 2012 9:31 AM

My Week With Marilyn is a comedy? I don't think I've seen the word "comedy" mentioned in connection with it once, until the Golden Globes.

Posted by: Craig at January 16, 2012 9:48 AM

DINKLAGE!

Well deserved, excellent acting in a great series.

Posted by: Dark Avenger at January 16, 2012 10:30 AM

I'm so bored by these awards selections (the TV awards don't even count because the noms were so absurd) that I could fall asleep on a bed of Golden Globes statues and give zero out of ten shits.

Posted by: ChristianH at January 16, 2012 10:57 AM

I would really just like to have an awards show so I could get Ricky Gervais to host it.

Posted by: JenVegas at January 16, 2012 11:38 AM

'Homeland' and Kelsey Grammar? Two thumbs down, WAAAAY down.

'Downton Abbey' and Jessica Lange? Two thumbs up, WAAAY up.

Posted by: sunny at January 16, 2012 12:39 PM

Just finished reading Courtney Enlow's predictions article & thought she did a pretty damn good job, I'm impressed.

I also just finished watching the entire 8-episode run of ‘Boss’ this weekend, because I could not stop watching the entire 8-episode run, and loved it way much more than I thought I would, so it was great to read that Kelsey Grammar got a Globe for that.

But Matt LeBlanc? “Episodes”? Didn’t see that one coming.

Posted by: special snowflake at January 16, 2012 2:50 PM

So, what did Ricky say that was offensive? He was tamer than Billy Crystal this year. What gives?

Posted by: John G. at January 16, 2012 2:55 PM

Only one nomination for Drive? Atrocious.

Posted by: joelboy at January 16, 2012 4:31 PM

I showed my dog pictures of Uggie the dog, and told her that she too could be a movie star if she could only learn some tricks. She replied by cleaning herself. I think she is mad at me.

Posted by: MRod at January 16, 2012 9:47 PM

I mistakenly attributed the Globe predictions article to Courtney Enlow (she posted the 'live blog' column) when Cindy Davis was the actual author; please excuse the error, and apologies to Ms Davis.

Posted by: special snowflake at January 18, 2012 7:07 AM

Marvelous George Clooney as well as Ryan Gosling. It appears like George Clooney did NOT trash talk Ryan Gosling with regard to missing out on the actual Golden Globes, in spite of an absolutely bogus report. Have you seen The Ides of March? An idealistic staffer for a newbie presidential candidate receives a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail, starring Ryan Gosling and George Clooney.
