Archie Panjabi was robbed.

Posted by: NotIt at September 18, 2011 11:36 PM

Nice work, Kyle Chandler. "Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't lose." Finally. . .If only Connie Britton had won as well.

Posted by: prairiegirl at September 18, 2011 11:39 PM

Big Bang Theory winning anything invalidates the Emmys for everyone else

Posted by: automatic365 at September 18, 2011 11:43 PM

Go Coach!!! If only Coach's wife had won as well (and honestly....each of them should have full mantles of Emmys by now).

Posted by: JC at September 18, 2011 11:45 PM

So, did the Best Actress/Comedy nominees all plan on going up on stage, or did Poehler just start it and everyone else followed along?

Posted by: sars at September 18, 2011 11:57 PM

It's about time Peter Dinklage was officially acknowledged. He is amazing in everything I have ever seen him in. One of the most consistent high quality actors I have ever seen

Posted by: YesPlease at September 19, 2011 12:28 AM

If you think Archie Panjabi got robbed, you didn't watch a second of Justified. Margo Martindale gave the best performance of anyone in any category, drama or comedy. I get chills thinking about it. It was the role of a lifetime for her and she nailed it.

Posted by: Rubble44 at September 19, 2011 12:32 AM

Fucking Jim Parsons and Melissa McCarthy? Are you fucking kidding me?! Goddamit Modern Family, you'll never be as good as Parks and Rec!

Fuck!

Posted by: ChristianH at September 19, 2011 12:37 AM

Come on .... Parsons.... Louis CK does every part of his show. Alec Baldwin is 50% of the reason to watch 30 Rock... I could replace Parsons with another tall reedy guy and no one would know.

Posted by: enon at September 19, 2011 12:45 AM

Something really ill in me wanted to see Paul McCrane get it on with Loretta Devine.

Posted by: Jerry at September 19, 2011 1:23 AM

DINKLAGE! DINKLAGE!!! DIIIIIINKLAAAAAGE!!!

Posted by: PDamian at September 19, 2011 1:32 AM

Margo and Dinklage won. I am happy.

Posted by: Fredo at September 19, 2011 1:43 AM

Dinklage does deserve it, rightfully so. I knew of him before Thrones in movies. He was great in "The Station Agent".

Posted by: The Minn at September 19, 2011 2:01 AM

I'm sorry, how again is it possible that Parks & Rec didn't win outstanding comedy or Amy Poehler best actress in a comedy?!??!?

Margo Martindale's win almost makes me forget about Melissa McCarthy's. But it doesn't.

Unbridled rage over trivial shit wins again.

Posted by: Steve at September 19, 2011 4:42 AM

How the hell did Modern Family beat Parks & Rec? It's an okay show, but it's not exactly special, and the gay couple has no chemistry (probably because one of the actors is clearly straight). Which is a shame, because the actually gay guy is the best character on the show.

So an above average but not special comedy up against Parks & Rec in its best season yet? It's sillygoose. Pure sillygoose.

Posted by: Lucas at September 19, 2011 4:43 AM

And wait, the not gay guy playing a gay guy got nominated? Over the actually gay guy? Oh come on. Dude plays gay about as well as I play basketball.

I'm not very good at basketball.

Posted by: Lucas at September 19, 2011 4:52 AM

Margo! i really wanted Walton Goggins to win too. Oh well.

I'm glad Margo pointed out how amazing Olyphant is on that show. His time will come.

Also, I'm sure Melissa McCarthy's win was BS, but I couldn't be mad at Sookie!

Posted by: Mel C. at September 19, 2011 8:01 AM

very happy to see dinklage win as well as martindale. coach too!

Posted by: splinter at September 19, 2011 8:31 AM

Yay for Coach and Jason Katims, but boo for all my other favorites who got shut out - Parks & Rec, So You Think You Can Dance, the lovely and talented Cat Deeley, and Connie Britton.

Jerry, I must be just as ill as you because I totally loved McCrane hitting on Loretta.

Anyone else feel really, really bad for the Emmytones?

Posted by: MelBivDevoe at September 19, 2011 9:13 AM

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't forget to thank your wife!

DIIIIIINKLAAAAAGE!!!

I wholly support and endorse this replacing "HAAAAAAAM!"

Posted by: branded at September 19, 2011 9:28 AM

Connie Britton should have won. End of story. No matter how good Margulies is on that show, Britton kicked fifteen thousand kinds of ass on FNL and should've been rewarded for it. Other than that I think I was mostly happy. I would've liked Jon Hamm to win but he's got plenty of chances, and Kyle Chandler deserved the hell out of it.

Other than that it's just damn stupid that Amazing Race keeps winning year after year.

And we all know Melissa McCarthy won for Bridesmaids. I mean, I love her and am glad she won, even though I've never seen that damned show. But it was for Bridesmaids and we all know it.

Who won Best Reality Host?

Posted by: figgy at September 19, 2011 10:10 AM

I called Melissa McCarthy winning when you guys put up the first big Emmy thread. Yes, I am patting myself on the back for that. Best part of a horrid show + Bridesmaids + finally breaking out after years of great work + downright likable person = Emmy win.

Now if we could just find a way to transfer this into momentum for an Oscar nomination for Bridesmaids I'd be very happy.

Posted by: Robert at September 19, 2011 10:19 AM

I've never seen Mad Men. It just looks boring as shit. But I was pretty surprised after all the FNL love earlier in the night(another show I've never watched) that it STILL won for best drama. Again. Leading me to think that it is the only show the voters are actually watching. Because I would think they could spread some love to GoT or FNL and give Mad Men a break for at least one year.

I prefer Parks & Rec but Modern Family is pretty damn funny so I'm not too bothered by their comedy sweep.

Margo "It was already in the jar." Martindale deserved the hell out of that win. As did Peter Dinklage. The only problem there was he had to beat Walton Goggins, another incredible performance.

Jane Lynch did a good job with some weak material. Lonely Island performance was the best part of the show.

Posted by: TylerDFC at September 19, 2011 10:24 AM

The pagent bit for Best Actress in a Comedy had to be pre-arranged. It was the only one where they showed the nominees live - every other award showed clips from the nominated performances. Plus, the tiara and flowers came from backstage. It was still funny.

The other funny part was listening to Guy Pearce talking about going home every night and telling his wife how much fun he was having fucking Kate Winslet.

Posted by: Three-nineteen at September 19, 2011 10:36 AM

Margo Martindale in Justified turned in one of the best performances I have ever seen. She was magnificent. No-one could have seen that performance and not think she deserved to win.

Posted by: PaddyDog at September 19, 2011 10:55 AM

Apple pie all around! I'll drink last thanks. Out of my own damn cup.

Posted by: Mrcreosote at September 19, 2011 11:08 AM

Alright, you're all on to me: I've never seen Justified. I'll put it on my list, now.

Posted by: NotIt at September 19, 2011 11:33 AM

Did anyone else notice how squealy and eager to hug/kiss Kyle Chandler all of the women on stage were? Hands off my (secret) husband, ladies!

Posted by: Mrs. Julien at September 19, 2011 11:46 AM

figgy - Jeff Probst won Best Reality Host. Again. For the fourth time.

Posted by: MelBivDevoe at September 19, 2011 12:01 PM

NotIt:

For the record, I love Archie Panjabi and she does great things with her character on Good Wife, but she had the unfortunate timing to be up against such an exceptional performance this year.

Posted by: PaddyDog at September 19, 2011 12:14 PM

Louie CK is a fucking genius. Him not winning invalidates the whole thing.

Posted by: Uncle Mikey at September 19, 2011 4:06 PM

Unless there's such a thing as The Scrap Metal Awards, the 'Always A Nominee, Never A Negro' spectacle was so dire that my sister was compelled to phone me up to say so. Maybe we got robbed. Hopefully it picked up after we hung up.

DIINKLLLAAAGGGGGGE!

That bad motherfucker is going to go down as Gen X's De Niro. Hopefully without De Niro's horrid backslide into mediocrity as he ages.

Posted by: idiosynchronic at September 19, 2011 9:35 PM

My friend texted me that Kyle Chandler won an Emmy (currently television free) and I squealed with happiness! SO TOTALLY DESERVED. Love it.

Posted by: grace b at September 20, 2011 12:29 AM

I don't really get the love for Modern Family (I mean it's an ok show, and I can be glad for Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen, especially since they didn't really have competition) and I really don't get the love for Big Bang Theory!

I get that people seek something stupid to watch to soothe their brains on the evening, but aren't the emmys supposed to reward outstanding achievement. (yeah that's not a question mark)

That turd Galecki nominated and Fucking Parsons awarded again is a travesty. More so when CK, Carell and Baldwin are far more deserving (for being in an actual funny show for one thing) but how can The Big Bang Theory or Glee or Modern Family be better than past-its-prime The Office and 30Rock, or shows like Louie, Archer, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Children's Hospital, Eastbound and Down, Parks & Rec or Community. I know some of those shows are not eligible, but how can they state that the nominated are the funniest shows on TV. I know there's a logic in giving up awards to the popular shows and actors so the audience can know what it is about, so that it serves a purpose for it to be televised.

That sort of shit upsets me, and it's early in the morning, so everyone is going to pay for that today, coworkers and friend-whom-I-have-lunch-with alike. I guess I should find solace in the fact that Dinklage, Chandler and Martingale won, but to me, their victory is sullied by the aforementioned.

Fistfuck the Emmys.

Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
