Below is the list of the 2010 Razzie Awards, which Sandra Bullock swept. And you may dislike Bullock as an actress, and you may feel she has no business being mentioned in the same rarefied breath as Meryl Streep as she will be tonight at the Academy Awards, but you’ve got to admit, she’s got a great self-deprecating sense of humor. That, she proved, when she showed up last night to accept her award(s). Here’s that video, followed by the list of the 2009 Razzie Award Winners.

As for the actual losers? No complaints, except that Paul Blart: Mall Cop somehow managed to avoid even a Razzie nomination.

I feel like it's a little unfair to nominate the Jonas Brothers for Worst Actor for what was just a filmed concert. (Worst Singers, I could understand)

I have great appreciation for people who can laugh at themselves. I don't know if any of you watch The Soup (judging from the quality of the show, their budget has to be about $5, so I can't imagine many people are tuning in), but on Friday they had the annual Soup Awards show. Like half a dozen people either showed up or taped short segments to accept awards that were, like the Razzies, given to them for less than flattering reasons.

I never thought I would have any respect for Nick Lachey, but after a year of being made fun of on The Soup, he joined right in on the joke. I think you really have to give people (like Bullock, above) credit for that.

Rob Schneider should've got worst actor of the decade.

Posted by: Steph at March 7, 2010 12:41 PM

Sandra Bullock showed a lot of class to say she would go. I already liked her, like her even more now.

Posted by: EricD at March 7, 2010 12:44 PM

you can trash bullock and cooper for the taking the payday
for doing " all about steve " but meryl streep and laurence olivier
could not have salvaged that garbage. those roles defied acting.

Posted by: snake at March 7, 2010 1:02 PM

Snake has a point... Bullock is a fine actress - not superb, not top ten, but she has some talent. Winning an acting Razzie for All About Steve is kind of unfair - the writing is the sinner there, not the acting. I'm sure she did the best possible with an absolutely crap script, but I doubt her acting was, in an of itself, the worst of the year.

I don't care for her movies at all, but I don't know that I'd call her the worst actress of the year. If anything, she deserves criticism for choosing a steady stream of absolutely awful, shit-tastic scripts to perform in.

Besides being susceptible to her adorability, I love the idea of snagging an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year!
That WOULD be awesome. And it could make for a fun speech!

steph,

If you are the 'star' of a $100 million budget film that bombs to $5 million total (pluto nash), you not only deserve worst actor of the decade but serious consideration for worst actor ever...

leave Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo alone.

Posted by: marcusarilius at March 7, 2010 2:00 PM

I don't think I'll ever freak out that she's headlining a movie and rush right out to see it - but I must confess she's great in her roles and she's made fare like Miss Congeniality and the Stallone/Snipes thing and Speed SO much better than those films would have been without her...but from what I've seen of her from this and from the promo for the Proposal she did with White and Reynolds...I think I'd easily place her on my 'famous actor buddy hangout list'.

i like sandra bullock. she seems like she'd be fun to go out and drink some grog with.

i haven't seen the blind side, but i'm not gonna lie... when miss congeniality is on the teevee, i always watch it.

and i ain't ashamed to say it either!

ok, i'm sort of ashamed.

Posted by: stopthemadness at March 7, 2010 2:20 PM

Don't be ashamed, stopthemadness!

We all watch Miss Congeniality. Being drawn to movies with extreme makeovers makes you human!

Posted by: esme at March 7, 2010 2:23 PM

thanks, esme! i feel so much better now. i think it's time for some breakfast wine.

Posted by: stopthemadness at March 7, 2010 2:30 PM

I love the Razzies but I disagree with awarding Paris Hilton worst actress of the decade. I'm sure in her warped little mind, this is the recognition she needed in order to continue her acting/singing career. In this case, the best thing to do would be to pretend she never existed, just like Paris does when the herpes come back to say hello.

I also thought Sienna Miller was the best part in GI Joe, but my guess is she won that one on reputation alone.

Posted by: schrome at March 7, 2010 2:45 PM

...and that's why people like Sandra Bullock.

Posted by: ceejeemcbeegee at March 7, 2010 2:46 PM

I really liked 28 Days, the movie she was in about rehab. It did not hurt AT ALL that Viggo Mortensen, my pretend boyfriend, was in that movie. I liked that while the characters made personal progress in the film, not all of them succeeded, the end was rather open as to who would ultimately conquer their demons and while there was romantic tension and entanglements, it wasn't the focus of the film. They allowed the focus to stay on the struggle with sobriety, with some detours for humor. It was also the first time I'd ever seen Alan Tudyk, Wash, from Firefly and he was hilarious in it.

Posted by: Viking at March 7, 2010 2:46 PM

I agree with Steph. While Eddie Murphy had further to fall during the aughts, Rod Schneyder has been by far the most reprehensably bad actor of the past decade.

Posted by: leftylad at March 7, 2010 3:50 PM

Viking, that is the greatest movie! So many good actors and a great, well-written story.

Posted by: TWoP_Fan at March 7, 2010 4:16 PM

Holy shit, I am charmed by that speech!

Posted by: Joanna at March 7, 2010 5:41 PM

Rob Schneider should've got worst actor of the decade.

That's kind of like saying Pol Pot should beat Hitler in the "Worst Dictator of the Century" award, yeah, Pol Pot was eviler than Hitler, but Hitler still used his evil much more effectively. Rob Schneider's more incompetent than Eddie Murphy, but the sheer volume of films Eddie Murphy has desecrated with his face punchingly terrible presence is enough to give it to him.

Plus, he's the only person in Razzie history to win three razzies for acting for the same movie. (Worst Actor, Norbit, Worst Supporting Actor, Norbit, and Worst Supporting Actress, Norbit)

Posted by: George at March 7, 2010 7:51 PM

I can't believe Bruno didn't win "Worst Picture," that was one of the worst movies ever made, and I'm not forgiving Dustin for not putting it and Miss March on the "Worst Films of the Year" list.

Posted by: George at March 7, 2010 7:56 PM

Um, "Bruno"?

Sienna Miller's "acting" career baffles me. I mean that she has one.

Posted by: , at March 7, 2010 8:34 PM

I have to say that my regard for Bullock-the-person wasn't hurt by this photo. That's a bit of class right there.

Feel comfortable with the possibility of starting a big tall relationship in a community where people think just like you. Recapture some of your lovers and try striking up a relationship, whether romantic or just friendship, with a big tall someone! ___Bigtalls * co m__ is your cupid!

I'm surprised no one seems to remember that Halle Berry also won the Razzie the same year she won the Oscar. And she also went to the ceremony and accepted the Razzie in a tear-filled speech that was pretty hilarious.

In retrospect, I should've seen Sandy's win coming a mile away.

Posted by: figgy at March 8, 2010 1:14 PM

Murphy should've at least gotten cut some slack for his career, those days many years ago when he was funny. Schneider's never been funny or interesting in anything he's ever been, like ever.

Posted by: stryker1121 at March 8, 2010 7:58 PM

I was very disappointing when I heard that the JONAS got the award for the worst actor. They really worked hard for this.

Posted by: Sneha at March 8, 2010 11:00 PM

Thanks tieke for that pic. Suddenly Ms Bullock has skyrocketed in my estimations. She may not be Meryl Streep, but she is definitely a legend in her own right!!!

"The Blind Side" was a brilliant movie and I can't wait to see "All About Steve".

3 cheers to "America's favourite sweetheart" (to quote Betty White)for winning not 1 but 2 fine awards.

Posted by: Paul at March 9, 2010 9:31 PM

I haven't seen any of the nominated films, but I can't imagine anything worse than "Bruno", except "Salo: the 120 days of Sodom" (1979). Like the other readers, I am deeply impressed at Sandra Bullock for accepting the award. My opinion of and respect for her has gone way up. Can you imagine Madonna, John Travolta, or Eddie Murphy accepting their Razzies? Bullock shows real class, and the point about how wrong it is to blame her for a horrible script is probably accurate.

Do people REALLY hate Transformers that much? Sure it wasn't as great as the first, but I thought it was a good enough movie for an action flick. I know that I didn't go in expecting Shakespeare or anything.
