  • Pretty boy James McAvoy has been cast as Professor X in Matthew Vaughn's (Kick-Ass) X-Men prequel, X-Men: The First Class. That's a solid start for the film, which will focus in some part on the rift between Professor X and Magneto as young adults. (THR)

  • Confirming an earlier report from the illustrious Matt Patches over at, it's official now: Tommy Lee Jones has been added to the cast of Captain America. No word yet on what role he'll play. (Slashfilm)

  • Drew Pearce has been hired to pen the feature adaptation to Brian K, Vaughan's Runaways, which already has Peter Sollet (Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist) set to direct. Pearce is best known for the British superhero television comedy "No Heroics." (Deadline)

  • In addition to Green Lantern and Batman movies, Warner Brothers has officially announced plans for movies based on Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and even Aquaman. Add that to the growing Marvel universe, and then next two to four years look to be stacked with comic-book movies. (THR)

  • Heatvision has uncovered the short list of actors being considered for the Spider-Man reboot. The list of largely unknowns includes Jamie Bell, Andrew Garfield, Josh Hutcherson, Alden Ehrenreich, and Frank Dillane. The only one I'd care to see is Jamie Bell. (THR)
