Star Trek Into Darkness Rises With A New Poster

There isn’t much to say about this poster for Star Trek Into Darkness. I suppose the new trend is to feature your film’s logo created by the empty husks of destroyed cities and buildings as a protagonist or antagonist stands alone in the middle. Live long and be the hero your galaxy needs, I guess.

  • Dear Jack Harkness,

Get back to the Doctor Whoniverse where you belong. You're not supposed to be in the Star Trek universe. Stop this rebellious bouncing around, especially if it means you have to go to the Starz network to get face (albeit a beautiful face) time. That hurt, Captain Jack. That hurt.

  • Buck Forty

So I'm the only one who sees buildings shaped like Penii (yes, plural) in the poster then?

  • Dicks. Dicks everywhere ..

  • idiosynchronic

I'm wondering what Tex Avery or Chuck Jones thinks about this obvious intellectual gag theft.

  • Well, they're dead, so.

  • Slash

So one hot chick and 5 dudes? Guess women in the future are back at home making sammiches and helping Rosie the robot raise the next generation.

  • BWeaves

    Capt. Jack? WTF?

  • I WISH.

  • Sefa

Apparently I was too distracted by the Cumberbatch all morning to recognize the Trek emblem framing him. It's officially now a sickness I have.

  • Tinkerville

That looks like such a direct ripoff of the TDKR poster and just doesn't have the sci-fi feel that a Star Trek movie poster should. Sigh...

  • As with all the Star Trek posters, I wonder whether they realize that only Trekkers [like myself] recognize the Enterprise / Starfleet symbol, and the general public just goes, "er, whut?" It's not the Batman symbol or Superman shield, now is it?

  • Artemis

The header picture really emphasizes how much of a sausage party this reboot is. I actually really enjoyed the first one, but it's still disheartening that the original TV show from the 60s had more female characters than the movies made 50 years later.

  • onsugarhill

What's interesting to me is that every male cast member is looking directly into the camera, but they chose that picture of her.

  • Besides Nurse Chapel or Yeoman Rand, I can't imagine which female character is missing from the main cast [and neither one was actually "main cast" Yes, they should have been].

  • Artemis

Those were the two I was thinking of from the TV series. And even if they didn't want to include them, they could have introduced some new female characters either within the cadets or as villains (apparently this movie will have Alice Eve playing a new character, so that's progress I guess).

  • The Cumberbatch surveys the desolation caused by his rabid Sherlock fangirls who are not taking kindly to the delay of Series 3.

  • Pfft! Put a camera behind me when I leave the house on a Monday morning in London and you'd get a similar enough image.
