soulmen.jpegYar, Bernie Mac, ye be already missed. B-Mac was actually a favorite of mine - awesome in the Ocean’s movies, brilliant in his cameos on Kanye West’s albums, just generally funny in most of his performances, even those in crappy movies (*cough*Transformers*cough*).

Anyway, looks like this is one of his final pictures, about a Motown-era soul group getting back together with the inevitable hijinks ensuing. It’s got Sam Jackson, which isn’t nearly the cause for excitement it once was — The Man basically fucked his instant appeal. He also appears to have resurrected his haircut from Jackie Brown. I loved his portrayal of Ordell Robbie, so I suppose he gets some props for that. Seeing Jennifer Coolidge had me a little excited until… well, you’ll know the moment when you see it. Shudder. So, we’ll see what happens.

Yeah, this looks forgettable, to say the least. But I might watch it just to see Bernie Mac's last hurrah. That man was a comic genius. Even his bit role in Booty Call had me on the floor.

Bernie will always be one of those iconic actors/comedians to me whose cameos could turn any piece of shit movie into gold for the time he was on the screen.

So...you DO know Bernie Mac had a TV show right? Was on for like, five+ seasons?

Well, it was on Fox, so that would explain any lack of knowledge about it.

Still, if you loved him just from his bit parts, you would have loved the show.
