Sigourney Weaver Gets In on the Vampire Action

As Does... The Director of Clueless? / TK

Sigourney Weaver’s seems like she’s had a surprisingly quiet career for someone who was in some of the greatest science fiction movies of all time, as well as Avatar. I’ve never seen her disappoint, so I suppose that bodes well for Amy Heckerling’s Vamps.

Yes, that means another vampire movie is coming your way. These don’t sparkle, but they probably don’t tear out throats or bathe in blood, either, which is always mildly unsettling. Vampires are supposed to tear out throats and bathe in blood. If they’re not going to do that, the what kind of a world do we live in, I ask you?

[sigh]

Anyway, Heckerling has had a decidedly uneven track record — she’s directed some of the greatest movies of my generation — Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Clueless (and I have great fondness for Johnny Dangerously) — and she’s directed some absolute crap (A Night at the Roxbury, I Could Never Be Your Woman). What I’m saying here, folks, is that an announcement that she’s got a new flick coming out is hardly cause to break out the boogie-woogie.

In any event, according to Slashfilm Vamps is about “two young female vampires living the good life in contemporary New York ‘until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality.’”

Oh, barf.

Weaver will play Ciccerus, the evil vampire (hi there redundancy) who turned them in the first place. So the good news is she’ll get to wickedly bitch it up, and that has great promise. The cast is a decidedly weird one — the two leads are played by Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, The Crush) and Krysten Ritter (She’s Out of My League, Confessions of a Shopholic). I like Ritter, even though she’s usually relegated to playing the snarky friend. I honestly didn’t know Silverstone was still working, so… good for her.

I guess.

Yeah, it's roughto be a Sex In The City Vamp. You fall in love with a guy and confide to him that you're an immortal vampire and before you know it, he stakes you in the heart during sex. Talk about your snuff films.

Gia!!!

The plot sounds like one of those horrible CW shows. But if she puts a Clueless-like spin on things, it could be fun. I hope.

I could have sworn Silverstone was already dead. Looks like Silverstone is to Heckerling what Schneider is to Sandler.

Here's to handouts!!!!

"Weaver will play Ciccerus, the evil vampire (hi there oxymoron) who turned them in the first place."

Isn't that more of a redundancy than an oxymoron?

Oh, shush, you. --TK

Little help on what movie that picture is from (Working Girl)? She is just bringing it in that shot...

“two young female vampires living the good life '

If by young they meant not young, and by living the good life they really meant dead, wouldn't that be a little more accurate?

You know, my mother insulted Sigourney Weaver's career in front of me once...ONCE.

Whoosht! I'll support that Sigourney in everything she does. Ever seen any of her Helmut Newton photos?

This one, she may bite me.

Since I am Sigourney's bitch, I'll watch her in damn near anything. This is no exception.

I am amused by the irony of a vegan actress, Alicia Silverstone - http://www.peta.org/feat/alicia_psa/index.asp - playing a vampire. Then again, she just might be going along with PETA's viewpoint - 'meat-eating humans = evil and must die!' 'animals = the bestest EVAR!'
