#SaveCommunity #OccupyNBC To Flash Mob 30 Rock... efeller Center Today

As a Pajiba reader, you are no doubt aware that NBC has taken “Community” off of its Spring schedule, with “30 Rock” taking its place in the 8/7pm CST time slot. You’re probably also aware that only fans of “Community” really care about this, all of whom seem to be on Twitter, where the hash tags #SaveCommunity and #OccupyNBC are still being updated frequently despite this being month-old news. What you might not know (and possibly still not care about) is that the — ahem — movement is finally taking form in the real world as a flash mob at NBC headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York.

Granted, so far only 153 people have committed to going on the Facebook page, which means only half those people are actually likely to be there at once. But it’s planned to take place between 1-1:30pm this afternoon, which I take to be mean is the time that the NBC executives, and other 30 Rock (if not “30 Rock”) employees, will be returning from their lunch breaks to see a crowd of the show’s most ardent, in-the-neighborhood fans* singing songs from the recent Christmas “Glee” parody episode, Regional Holiday Musical. The flash mob itself won’t likely make much of a difference, but, as an obvious fan of the show, I appreciate the sentiment and would absolutely be there if I could.

Since I can’t be, I hope somebody who does go will take some video of the “event” and post it online. I’ll definitely update this if I find one. Or, hey, if you’re in the area, go for us and get a Pajiba “exclusive?” I desperately want to see how a flash mob performs this:

* Fans who have organized on the Internet and probably haven’t had a chance to really practice singing together, so it could easily be misconstrued as a dislocated TRL audience. (TRL is still a thing, right? Total Request Live? Is Carson Daly still alive?)

Rob Payne also writes the indie comic The Unstoppable Force, tweets on the Twitter @RobOfWar, and his ware can be purchased here (if you’re into that sort of thing). He realizes he may be a little obsessed, but he needs “Community” like some people need shame.

Damn it. I have to run callback auditions over an hour out of NYC at 2:30 today. Otherwise, I'd be all over this.

I am hopelessly in love with this show - simply smitten. Unfortunately, I'm stuck in the Midwest, but I'm trying to get my brother to go. He's visiting our grandparents for 2 days, but this is clearly more important.

Sorry to inform you that TRL went of the air in 2008 because you know Music Television doesn't show videos anymore only prego teens and other horrible crap.

Carson Daly left TRL in 2002. Remember when he and JLove were dating or even Tara Reid.....the good old days back when all three were young and hot. Last time I saw Daly he was on late late night and emaciated. Is he still on whatever show that was?

I loved MTV grew up on it (good or bad thing I have no idea) and it is so horrible now it makes me sad. I would kill for a good video right now!

Oooh... let me check the train schedule. This might be fun.

Carson Daly hosts 'The Voice.' He's terrible and still looks emaciated. He's probably compensating for his fat years.

Last Call with Carson Daly is the other one he hosts.

I remember catching a few minutes of it once when I had dozed off during Late Night and I couldn't find the remote. Then I found the remote.

That story is more interesting that the show.

I'd go but I have work and can't take time off for fear of not making rent this month. Christmas is great if you're salaried or retail, fucking sucks if you're freelance.

Do you have any idea how many people are in rockfeller center this time of year? Adding a few more grains of sand to the beach isn't going to get anyone's attention.

meh. There were about 30 or 40 people there, mostly college age, with the felt goatees. We all sang Christmas Troy, and then wondered what to do next. So We sang Christmas Troy again.

"They did a flash mob performance?"

"Yes, sir."

"In the middle of Rockefeller Center?"

"Yes, sir."

"Wearing felt goatees and singing?"

"Yes, sir."

"This has touched my cold, dead, TV executive heart. Renew Community IMMEDIATELY!"

"Seriously, sir?"

"No. Cancel the show, burn the sets to the ground, and salt the earth. Flash mob, my ass."
