"Saturday Night Live" Abruptly Loses a Cast Member

By Dustin Rowles | Trade News | January 31, 2012 | Comments ()

According to the folks over at Entertainment Weekly, "Saturday Night Live" and Paul Brittain have parted ways. Apparently, the split was amicable and mutual, although things like this rarely are. Maybe Brittain actually did have other offers to pursue, maybe he thought he was being underused (he was), maybe he was too similar to Taran Killam, or maybe he looked at Lorne Michaels funny.

Either way, it's kind of a bummer because Brittain -- best known for his character Lord Windermere, though he also did a great James Franco -- was pretty good. Then again, the pop culture landscape is littered with those who were abruptly dropped by "SNL," including most recently "Happy Endings'" Casey Wilson.
