Rush Limbaugh Thinks that The Dark Knight's Bane Is a Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy Against Mitt Romney

By Dustin Rowles | Trade News | July 17, 2012 | Comments ()

This conspiracy has been in the works for nearly 20 years, and took an immense amount of foresight by creators Chuck Dixon, Doug Moench, and Graham Nolan who developed the character in 1993. Clearly, they knew that Mitt Romney would be running for president the same year that Christopher Nolan would end the The Dark Knight Rises trilogy and that Nolan would choose Bane -- which sounds like Bain -- as the lead villain.

CONSPIRACY. Listen to just the first minute and try to contain your laughter.

That's a whole new level of dumbshittery. The shame of it is, half of Rush Limbaugh's huckleberry listeners are buying it.

He is right that it's going to influence voters. But, to be fair I already planned on voting for Batman.

  • stardust

    And it continues.

Limbaugh has lost his damned mind.

Those fucking stupid ass Republicans never disappoint because their leader is a shit-bag pill popper that for some reason loves going to the Dominican Republic with his Viagra. For a guy that’s been married three or four times he sho nuff likes pussy, but then again if it was pussy he was after he really didn’t need to go all the way to D.R., but then again maybe he wasn’t looking for pussy.

You motherfucking shit for brains Republicans I’m glad you all hitched your wagon to Mitt Romney, a vulture capitalist in the trustiest sense of the word, this fucking guy got money hooked up with every fucking regime from here to Iran. This fucking guy refuses to release his tax returns and you dumb fucks are still going to vote for him. Johnny Boy McCain took a look at this guy and chose Sarah Palin, Sarah fucking Palin, the stupidest motherfucker this side of Uranus.

I going to see just how many of those fucking trailer trash millionaires are going to cash their “Obamacare” checks when they arrive, the fucking hypocrisy of these fuckers, I hope they take every goddamn penny and set up a meth labs and blow themselves up.

p.s. I’m just getting started with you dumb fucks!

  • That Guy Jerry

Is it "dumb fucks" or "dumbfucks"? If "motherfucker" is one word "dumbfucks" should be too right?

  • Pookie

Technically you might be right, but when one is using the words “dumb fucks” or “dumbfucks” or “motherfucker” or “mother fucker” there really aren’t any hard and fast rules. Shakespeare in all his glory never got around to explaining or using such harsh words, thus we are left to use them in any manner the user seems fit.

  • rachel612

Guys. You're working in the reality based community here. Limbaugh doesn't. Why give him oxygen?

  • labman57

Limbaugh and his fellow insightful conservative analysts are absolutely right. Bane ... Bain ... it's so obvious. So glad to see that someone is on the ball and paying attention to this insidious attempt to subliminally influence the populace.

Furthermore, J.R.R. Tolkien was obviously a left-wing clairvoyant, as he otherwise would not have referred to the One Ring as "Isildur's Bane" and the Balrog as "Durin's Bane".

In fact, who is responsible for the word "bane" being introduced into the English language to begin with? Karl Marx?

  • The Wanderer

According to Dr. Harry Frankfurt, author of the seminal work "On Bullshit," a bullshitter is not a liar. A liar knows the truth, and makes a concetred effort to direct you away from it; a bullshitter could care less about either truth or falsehood, and simply makes it up as he goes along.
In this context, Rush is an awe-inspiring bullshit artist on a par with Ernest Angley.
Will no one rid us of this bloated, festering, drug-sodden pedophile sex tourist?

  • Maguita NYC

    MBA in Excessive Bullshit Engineering?

  • The Wanderer

Who, Frankfurt? At the time he wrote the essay, he was Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at Princeton - which makes him about seventeen rungs on the evolutionary ladder above Rushbo.

  • Maguita NYC

I meant Limbaugh! Just read my first comment up-thread on how clear my feelings are on that particular pos.

  • fcanaj

The thing is, if the rotten tomato comment section is any indication, Rush might have finally met his match. You can mess you Democrats, you can mess with liberals and even the POTUS but you cannot mess with angry nerds and expect to get away with it.

  • Hiro_the_Eighth_Samurai

That Rush. Anything to get his name in headlines.

  • Clancys_Daddy

Sorry, I couldn't make it past the two second mark (I really did try). I felt my IQ starting to dip when he said "have" and I had to eject from the plane.

  • the chaplain

OMG this is just like how Rush Limbaughs parents named him that to give a really conservative and crazy rep to the band 'Rush'!

  • Jezzer

I thought it was because they knew he would one day get hooked to the rush of prescription painkillers.

  • Scully

    So, Obama is Batman?!

  • David Sorenson

I love it. I love it like I love Ancient Aliens. It's so insanely stupid that it almost swings back around into brilliance. The ability Rush has to just completely ignore facts, logic, reason and reality is awe inspiring. Bane was chosen to make Mitt Romney look bad. It's so damn balls out stupid that it doesn't even make me the least bit suicidal that people with the same voting rights as me will believe it.

This guy. This guy is the person that republicans fall over themselves to appease. The porcine buttocks that every right wing politician of note must affix their lips to. The Blarney Lump who blesses conservatives.

  • Archie Leach

There are more brains oozing out of the tip of my penis than there is in subhuman scum limbaugh.

  • Maguita NYC

Uh-oh, You should go see a doctor for that!

  • TheAggroCraig

People on all sides of the political spectrum will hear this and think, "Yes, that makes sense." And they get to vote.

  • GunNut2600

Really?!? My impression of what little I have heard about the film is that the Bane character undercuts the Occupied Movement and leftist groups in general.

Then again, I ain't the dude that makes millions convincing idiots to believe the most random and retarded shit.

  • Jimmy A

Yes, Rush. Bane, who was created in 1993, is used to oppose the right wing of America today (and Bane is fire-breathing and four-eyed, apparently). The breaking of Batman's back symbolizes the greatly...I can't even finish it. Someone end us of Rush. Batman? The ball is in your court.

  • BierceAmbrose

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

Using the Washington Times as a legitimate source of news is like looking up historical facts in a Scientology handbook.

  • Archie Leach

The Washington Times? Of "Reverend" Sun Myung Moon??

    I'll pass.

  • Pookie

I had an Asian girlfriend once, her name was Mi Yung Ho.

  • Socraz6

I would be really surprised if the actual campaign ran with that, for many of the reasons listed in the article. And as there was a never a source given to the quote, I highly doubt it would be. They've run a pretty tight when it comes to staying on message, and this just smacks of sloppy.

  • A Guy

That's some funny stuff. I'm sure there will be an article on Pajiba about that any moment now.

  • A Guy

Rush is good at his job, as evidenced by people commenting on Pajiba. Do you guys really think he believes that about TDKR? Really? The guy is one of the highest paid practitioners of his craft for a reason.

  • David Sorenson

I've heard this line of reasoning before. If people are talking about it, then they're doing something right. I think of it as the "Mad Men" defense after the ep where they talk about the Volkswagen ad and Don Draper says pretty much the same thing. The problem is that we aren't actually talking about it. We're not really discussing the issues he brought up and whether or not he has a point. We're pointing and laughing at the clown.

We're mocking him. We're making fun of him. If his job was to become a bigger laughingstock than he is now, then he should pack a sock in his flight suit and hang the "Mission Accomplished" banner because that's what he did. He said something stupid and is being mocked for it. Something he could've done just as well if he'd farted on air and it had been broadcast. Probably would've been nearly as intelligent as the comment we're discussing here.

Just talking about El Rushbo doesn't mean he succeeded. His job is to gain listeners. He succeeds if people listen to his show, not if people just talk about it. Just gonna guess that not very many of the people gleefully making fun of him aren't going to tune in to his program tomorrow.

  • That Guy Jerry

I just listened to his show. I think most of the people who viewed this page listened to it too. That clip was from his show right?

  • David Sorenson

    Oh aren't you just adorable.

Listening to a clip of his show on The Huffington Post, Facebook, this very site, or any other blog mocking him doesn't give him any ratings or help his advertisers at all. It helps the advertisers on the websites. That's a failure.

Or you could just read it. I've seen the whole quote posted on quite a few websites. All the pomposity with none of the jowly vocals. Rushy-Poo (as his hookers are paid to call him) still doesn't get a nickel of it. Also a failure.

Still no smiley face sticker for Rush. Just another stormy cloud.

  • Clancys_Daddy

For a moment I thought you said crap.

  • Camacho/Trump 2016!!

He may not believe it, but millions of his listeners will.

  • NateMan

I hope you're using craft in the ironic sense.

  • A Guy.

Uh, no. He is very, very good at his job. Hosting a radio show is a type of "craft" and he is excellent at his craft. He didn't get to where he is in his industry for being bad at his job.

  • Agreed entirely - talking nonstop for 4 hours a day is a skill, no doubt. Talking unmitigated garbage for 4 hours a day is pure talent.

  • Maguita NYC

    I KNEW IT!

The moment I saw the hotness that is a masked Tom Hardy, i.e. Bain Capital, my little sadistic heart recognized the Mitt Romney impersonator in his luscious submissive garb!

How dumb do you think the American public is to sell this piece of mother-f-cking shit?
And how embarrassing is it that the porcine, bigoted asshole selling that non-organic manure is an American!

  • NateMan

How dumb do you think the American public is to sell this piece of mother-f-cking shit?" You'll never go wrong underestimating the intelligence of the American (or any) public. You just can't get low enough.

  • Maguita NYC

Please, no! I am overly sensitive, and might actually weep.
I just find it more embarrassing when your fellow countrymen put out shit like that for the whole world to see.

Let's hope the remaining 4 sponsors drop his show.

  • Sassafrass Green

Basic vocab, Rush: it's Bane as in "bane of my existence" meaning to indicate a fatal end. What a bloated idiot.

  • space_oddity

Rush never fails with the "I can believe someone is actually arguing this."

  • Badger

Not to mention, by the message of The Dark Knight, it seems as if Nolan might be a bit conservative. What with the whole advocacy for kidnapping people out their home countries like Bush did.

  • TheReinaG

Or the warrent-less wiretaps? I think I remember the Bush-era conservatives being excited about that part.

  • MachineGunJeanMaurice

The thing is, John Stewart made that remark as a joke yesterday, and I laughed thinking, "Nobody would ever be stupid enough to equate the two". Well, that'll teach me to overrate "Murica". Oï.
