Ben Stiller Finally Achieves Puberty

Unfortunately, His Brand of Comedy is Still Preadolescent / Dustin Rowles

Trade News | October 22, 2009 | Comments (7)

Ben Stiller, as both an actor and a producer, has a good 15 movies currently in development, including Little Fockers and the long-gestating Hardy Men with Tom Cruise. He’s even currently attached to direct The Trial of the Chicago 7, the Aaron Sorkin-scripted courtroom drama (based on the real trial of Jerry Rubin, Abbie Hoffman, Bobby Seale, etc.) that Steven Spielberg passed on.

Add this one to the pile of projects Stiller currently has up in the air (compliments, again, of The Hollwyood Cog): Puberty. Produced by Richard Brener and New Line Cinema, Puberty follows a thirty-something male who, as a medical oddity, never suffered the effects of puberty. Suddenly, during the biggest business meeting of his adult life, puberty arrives. Hijinx ensues.

It sounds like a bad “SNL” skit, and if it’s ever made, who knows how they’ll stretch that into a full-length movie. But then again, most of Ben Stiller’s career has felt like a bad “SNL” skit, and there are no commercial breaks to offer a reprieve. But who doesn’t look forward to Stiller simultaneously popping zits and boners in the boardroom? That’s comedy, folks!

Oh Stiller and Meara, what have you done?

At this moment, some kid who ran off to Hollywood to do special effects is working on a giant latex zit that will spew pus onto the boardroom table.

Ben Stiller never hit puberty. I know that there is some news in this post somewhere...

wait, they're making a movie about the Chicago Seven? Man, Stiller better not fuck that up; that's a cool story, and in Sorkin's hands it'll probably be a fascinating flick.

No, he has about 15 movies in development. Very few, if any, will be good.

Dustin's now just making up ridiculously awful projects for fun, as some kind of satire on the whole concept of online entertainment journalism. It's magnificent.
