Remember Pauly Shore? In the early ’90s his Weasel shtick made him a big deal with movies like Encino Man, Son-In-Law and In The Army Now. Well, just as he attempted in 2009 with the crass and forgotten Adopted, Shore’s desperately trying to reclaim the spotlight, this time by revisiting his past successes.

Variety reports that Shore was simultaneously walking the red carpet of Chris Rock’s new movie Top Five, promoting his upcoming Showtime documentary Pauly Shore Stands Alone and suggesting his fans rally for Encino Man 2. “My agent and I are talking about it,” he threatened told the trade, adding that Encino Man’s screenwriter Shawn Schepps had a concept for a sequel, and “I think it would be fun.”

On one level Encino Man 2 might seem an insane consideration. Yet, having made $40 million at the box office, the critically loathed $7 million comedy was a success that launched Shore and his co-star Brendan Fraser. And reviving a could-be franchise from 1992 seems less crazy when you recall that Dumb and Dumber To just delivered a sequel twenty years after the first film. Now here comes the buts.

BUT Encino Man—while beloved by a certain portion of Millennials—doesn’t have the same kind of staying power as Dumb and Dumber, nor has it achieved the level of comedy classic status the Jeff Daniels/Jim Carrey joint has. And then there’s that. People still know who Daniels and Carrey are. Fraser, Shore and their co-star Sean Astin aren’t still in demand. To be frank, they are mostly relics of the ’90s at this point. So who would even want Encino Man 2 but Shore?

Well, if you do Pauly Shore has a favor to ask. “Just Tweet at Brendan and Sean Astin and Disney.” If enough do, perhaps the trio will weeze the juice one last time.
