Here’s some interesting trivia: Christian Bale’s American Psycho character, Patrick Bateman, was inspired in part by Tom Cruise. Go figure!

Check this out, from an interview with American Pyscho director Marry Herron in Black Book Mag:

How did you and Christian Bale develop his character in American Psycho?

It was definitely a process. We talked a lot, but he was in L.A. and I was in New York. We didn’t actually meet in person a lot, just talked on the phone. We talked about how Martian-like Patrick Bateman was, how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet, watching what people did and trying to work out the right way to behave. And then one day he called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy.

I can certainly see the resemblance between the two characters, though I might note that I’ve seen Christian Bale in interviews, too. And he has an intense bristliness with very little behind the eyes. Though, like lots of things, his vacancy of soul can be obscured by that charming accent.

Bullshit, Tom Cruise just creamed his panties over this.
I'd personally chose not to believe this because by my readig of Bateman, he wasn't a closet case cult member with a slave with and Alien Robot ScienceMessiah Adopted chinese daughter

I can buy this. I mean, Tom Cruise DOES love Huey Lewis and the News (I assume. I mean... who doesn't?).

after 370 interview, every soul is vacant LOL
i don't understand why this story is so interesting because it 's an obviousness when you see the movie and i believe Bale yet said in an interview

That does not surprise me. Though now I will never be able to disassociate Tom Cruise from Batman. Yes, I mean Batman, not Bateman. Christian Bale will always be Batman. Alwaaaaaaays.

Wait.

Wasn't Tom Cruise Patrick's neighbor in the book?

Not surprised, at all.

But it's a weird coincidence: Tom Cruise look-alike from Mad Men, Miles Fisher, also did an American Psycho parody in a music video:

It's a cover of David Byrne, and it's HILARIOUS. Like watching Tom Cruise sing and kill people. Which, actually, is possibly what a large portion of his personal life is.

What a wild video. He's the perfect in-between Christian Bale and Tom Cruise.

Miles Fisher was brilliant in that American Psycho homage. Also, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ6zEB5A_EA

Actually, I just noticed that Miles Fisher stopped following me on Twitter. So, he's slightly annoying but nonetheless brilliant in that vid.

What a creep.

Woo, it's Tom Cruise Week, can't wait for what will come tomorrow!

I love that video! Miles Fisher is great in it.

I get the feeling that Tom Cruise does that double devil-horn finger gesture all the time as he makes points, just running around double devil-horning people. That sounds dirty. Anyway, both were great videos.

Who cares!!! My boyfriend also agrees with me. He is 10 years older than me, lol. We met online at age-gap club -- http://AgelessOnly.COM/. Maybe you wanna check out or tell your friends.

Indeed he was, Schlegel. They ran into each other in the elevator and Batemen screwed up the name of one of Cruise's movies.

Not only does he look like Tom Cruise, he looks like Tom Cruise and Christian Slater had a baby....
One minute he's Cruise and the next he's Slater!

Hilarious vid
