Your Netflix subscription just got ten times hotter, *and* it looks as if we haven’t heard the last of the Red Viper’s hot (fake!) accent. Pedro Pascal just Narcos, a ten episode series about notorious Colombian drug lord and cocaine trafficker, Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura [Elysium, Elite Squad]). Directed by Jose Padilha (Robocop [2014], Elite Squad: The Enemy Within) and written by Hannibal’s Chris Brancato, Narcos sets out to “…tell the true story of how cocaine became such a huge problem in the U.S. and Europe - and how it all started here in MedellĂn.” Pascal will play Mexican DEA agent Javier Pena, sent by the United States to capture and kill Escobar.

Narco begins filming in Colombia shortly, and is expected to debut in 2015.

Cindy Davis, (Twitter) may have fainted from excitement.

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

I like this. The procedural part of Robocop was pretty good from Padilha and I've heard only good things about elite squad.

  • The Replicant Brooke

At first, I was not on board the Pedro train. But I am now. I am. And it's a good train to be on...fuck I don't know. I'm on like glass 5 of cheap Barefoot wine.

  • Al

You say that as if there's another kind of Barefoot wine.

  • Classic

  • jM

YES. He stays on my TV and the accent stays! THE ACCENT STAYS!

  • Helo

Depends. Not all of us who speak Spanish have the same accent when speaking a foreign language. Chilean (his native spanish accent) and Mexican (his character's accent) are about as far apart as a U.S. accent and a New Zealand accent.

I suspect he hammed up a generic Latino accent for "Dorne".

  • Absolutely! And some don't even have an accent.

As for Pedro Pascal's accent on GoT, he mentioned in an interview that he just decided the Red Viper would speak like his dad, who speaks/spoke English fluently but with a strong accent.

  • Helo

Being fully bilingual has its perks. I once drunkenly hammed it up at a college party and convinced a girl I was a prince of Panama.

He sure is a handsome motherfucker.

  • Aaron Schulz

This man makes me question my sexuality.

  • competitivenonfiction

I think he's here to teach us all that sexuality is flexible. It's an admirable goal really.

  • e jerry powell

What's to question? You do him or you don't, and very little else matters.

  • e jerry powell

Oh, but you know that Vincent Chase's head EXPLODED when he read about this in the trades, considering what a huge log of SHITE Medellin turned out to be...

  • lowercase_see

Someone pointed out to me that he was in Buffy back in the day. Man has aged like a fine damn wine.

  • Helo

For us latinos with scant facial hair, this man is a fucking champion. *Pun quite intended.

  • Bert_McGurt

Man, young Pedro kinda looks like Walt Jr.

  • Helo

    Shit, he does, doesn't he?

  • stella

    Wait. What?

  • Enrique del Castillo

I wouldn't get too excited, after all, you don't become a drug kingpin like Escobar without getting rid of a few DEA agents, right?

  • He's playing a real person, if you want to know if he makes it or not you can find out.

  • BWeaves

My name is Pedro Pascal. You raped my sister. Prepare to die.
