Transformers in the Sky

In my seriously random list on the seven best theme songs for current televisions shows the other day, I suggested that Explosions in the Sky was so good that you could put their music over almost any trailer, including Transformers, and you’d want to see the movie. (Note, also, that a commenter, Django, appropriately corrected me: The “Friday Night Lights theme song is actually W.G. Snuffy Walden, not Explosions in the Sky, who did the theme music for the movie. There is a striking similarity, however). That note aside, it doesn’t change the facts: Explosions if the Sky makes everything better.

A mysterious reader, arrrghzi, put together a little trailer to prove the correctness of that assertion. So, for your enjoyment, here’s the Transformers trailer with Explosions in the Sky music, and tell me it’s not a movie you’d be ten times more inclined to see? And it’s not even one of the better EITS pieces, but it is the appropriate one for the Michael Bay trailer:

A cool little video but how could you say "Birth and Death of the Day" is not one of their best songs?

Damn, you're right. It does look like a better movie, with that music.

I get what you're saying about that music; but...still a no on Transformers.

EITS is awesome. This new trailer instills the whole thing with a sense of awe. That's what this film needed, quiet moments of awe. Not just loud moments of "oh shit."

To be fair, there are a LOT of other things the movie needed, and things it did NOT need, but this is an improvement for sure.

Nice, arrrghzi. Nice indeedy! You and hh could start a whole new thing at pajiba - "How it shoulda been".

I'd like to fly in the face of opinion a little bit here.. I'm pretty sure EITS were used for one of the AUSTRALIA trailers, and I still didn't want to see it despite their presence. In fact their association with that film has kinda tainted them for me ever since.

That movie killed my day/week/month with its shittiness (I had to watch it for work).

Oh, and when I paid $40 to see them when they played here in Auckland they were average. DISAPPOINT.

Haha thanks for the appreciation guys although -

Disclaimer: I did not make the trailer; it's the official released trailer. I just inserted the music, took like 15 mins to do whatnot.

On mysteriousness, I've been reading for a long time, probably 2005 or 2006. My only references to when is that I don't think articles had header pictures and comments yet back then, there was definitely no wwtdd.com (What Would Tyler Durden Do) yet, and one of my earliest gratitudes to the site is introducing me to Brick. I just never really got around to commenting much.

The song is great, too bad FNL is such a horrible show.
