Emma Frost, Paul Bettany, and Bruce Campbell Is Absolutely Delicious

This isn’t a new column or anything, but there’s a few little bits of news floating around that are pretty nerd-specific, and I didn’t want Dustin to fuck them up.

Yesterday is was all-but-confirmed that Michael Fassbender would play the role of Magneto. Now the news is that apparently Rosamund Pike is officially out of Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class as Emma Frost and British actress Alice Eve (She’s Out of My League, Crossing Over) is close to signing on for the part. Eve certainly has the look (and… um… the physical traits, and I don’t just mean the hair) to play Frost, who is a schemer and an extremely powerful mutant in the Marvel universe. She’s a decent actress, and since it’s the early years, her age (28) is just about right.

Next, we have the first image of Paul Bettany in the film Priest, not to be confused with Paul Bettany in Legion. Priest is about a dystopian future where vampires are taking over the world, and Bettany plays a warrior-priest out to find his niece, who has been kidnapped by the bloodsuckers. A lot of borrowing going on in that plot. Maggie Q and Karl Urban co-star. Here’s the pic (click for hi-res):

Finally, Bruce Campbell has a line of soups.

Yes, I’m shitting you — sort of. The good fellows at Sci-Fi Wire have put together a series of fake Campbell’s Soup labels in honor of The Chin, and I’ll tell you right now — if these actually existed, I’d stop writing in mid-sentence to run out and get them. Take a gander:

Head over to Sci-Fi Wire for actual printable versions. My personal favorite? Gumbo Ho-Tep.

Fucking genius.

Alice Eve is drop-dead gorgeous. I forgot about her for the 5 Freebies list as she would've replaced Zooey. I really hope she's a decent actress so she'll stay around for me to ogle.

Zounds! You guys sure know how to get a non-nerd to read a nerd post.

Those soup-can labels are brilliant.
They also remind me that I need to check the current Amazon price for Brisco County.

Hey, it's down to $42.50. Perhaps it shall depart my Wishlist for my TV screen come payday.

Also, Tommy Lee Jones to play Colonel Phillips in Captain America: FA, says Marvel.

I was under the impression Rosamund Pike was being considered for Moira MacTaggart, also/instead of Emma Frost? She'd be good in either part, but Alice Eve is probably better, um, naturally suited for Emma. Though, I've never seen her full body of work.*

* I'm talking about her performances, people!

I was pretty lukewarm on Alice Eve after Starter for Ten, but damn, if she isn't charming as hell in interviews.

Also? Fantastic rack. Take that, Scarlett Johansson!

And I want to do sacrilegious things to the cross on Bettany's face there.

Alice Eve looks like a young Emma Frost. Hmm...are the other X-Men supposed to be tweens now?

And Bruce Campbell soup: Grooo-ooo-oooo-oooovyyyy!!!

Alice Eve is pretty, and pretty girls are all mean.

This'll work.

Australian actress Alice Eve? I know we all sound the same to you guys, but come on!

Whoops! I was thinking about her character in Crossing Over and must have gotten my mental wires crossed. Apologies! -TK
