NBC's "The Cape" Crusade

How better to celebrate Halloween than with new pictures of bad guys in disguise? Via io9 comes news that Mena Suvari has joined “The Cape” as a character named “Dice”, and photos of villains Vinnie Jones and James Frain.

Frain plays “Chess”, alter ego of Peter Fleming and The Cape’s arch enemy:

While Jones stars as “Scales”, a criminal with freaky green and gold diseased skin:

Presumably you can figure out how they got their nicknames.

As silly as the premise sounds (a man is framed for a crime, goes into hiding and learns how to use a powerful cape) and as little faith as one can have in NBC, the cast that has been assembled is fantastic and the more little tidbits they leak, the more intriguing the show becomes. David Lyons (Eat Pray Love) stars as the framed father who takes on the identity of his son’s favorite comic book hero; Keith David (Requiem for a Dream, Pitch Black) is the leader of a group of bank robbers and teaches “The Cape” how to use his titular tool; Summer Glau (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, “Dollhouse”) is an investigative blogger and The Cape’s ally; James Frain (“True Blood”, TRON: Legacy) as the aforementioned Chess, whose alter ego framed The Cape and Vinnie Jones (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Gone in Sixty Seconds ) as the creepy villain, Scales.

Here’s a clip with Vince Faraday aka The Cape (Lyons) trying to convince Max Malini (David) to help him:

Yes NBC, unfortunately I do want more. Now don’t frak this up.

I freakin' love James Frain.

I NEED to see this -- VJ is too cool!

Posted by: GoGo LaTata at October 31, 2010 3:39 PM

Wait, James Frain is in Tron Legacy? Not that I needed another reason to see it but, yeah!

Via io9 comes news that, UNFORTUNATELY, Mena Suvari has joined “The Cape”

Fixed it for you.

I'm kinda predisposed to like this sort of thing, therefore I AM looking forward to it. Of course, I sat through the entirety of "Heroes" too.

And yes, for those wondering, I AM watching "No Ordinary Family". So far I give it a "B-" overall. But that's for another discussion.

Gotta agree with Candy...because it's on NBC I'm hoping we get at least one good season and I'm hoping for no more than that.

Yeah Slim - you noticed I didn't pay much attention to that little tidbit. Not a fan.

Puma Man, he flies like a moron...

Puma Man, with the power to drop people at a 45 degree angle!

I just watched that episode of MST3K last week Jim Doggie, and Puma Man was a wonderfully crappy movie for them to riff on.

I love Keith David. I'll watch anything that he's in.

So Vinnie Jones is Killer Croc?

Posted by: Ken Hart at November 1, 2010 6:29 AM

Keith David is the voice of god.

"I love you, the pew-MAY-man..."

True story, Keith David. . . David Keith. . .I'm NEVER sure.

Posted by: coveredinbees at November 1, 2010 11:27 AM

P.S. Frain looks like a sexier, eyeballier Rocketeer.

Posted by: coveredinbees at November 1, 2010 11:27 AM

Keith David is a bank robber, and he teaches the super-hero main character how to be a better super-hero? Did I miss something, or does that make no sense?

Two words: titular, eponymous. They mean different things. Learn them, love them.

I wish I could clone James Frain. I need a man like that in my life! I cannot wait till this show comes on.
