Late yesterday, it was reported that NBC has renewed “Chuck.”

Huzzah!

Much like Fox’s renewal of “Dollhouse” earlier in the weekend, this is a 13-episode order which is based, in part, on assurances that the show would come in with a lower budget. And some are suggesting that this tighter budget includes not having all the supporting players in every episode, and maybe even cutting one of the supporting cast altogether. A bummer, but we take what we can get, and I have faith that Josh Schwartz and company will make this work no matter what. Hell, spend five bucks and give me Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski and Adam Baldwin sitting in an empty set, having conversation over doughnuts. Everything else is gravy. Tasty, nerd gravy.

“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” is likely dead (late last night, douchebag extraordinaire Michael Auiello reported that the show was 100% kaput, though he claimed no source nor offered any substantive info — we’ll know for sure in a few hours, when Fox presents its fall schedule, which I’ll be back to talk about later today). So the last bubble shows I care about are “The Unit” and “Reaper.” We’ll know about both within the next few days, although the prognosis is rather negative. But even if both get the axe, I’ll live, because “Chuck” is coming back. Good Monday morning to ya.

(Oh, and just found that ABC has axed “The Unusuals.” Too bad, as it was a decent show. Though it weren’t no “Chuck.”)

Woohoo!

YAY!

I never even watched Dollhouse until this weekend, when I caught up on the entire run (after seeing the first episode a few months back and being bored). And the second half of the season did kick incredible amounts of ass, so I'm happy about it.

If Terminator does managed to pull a Hail Mary pass and get renewed for a third season (when I could have sworn it was officially canceled a month or two back), then I will be just flabbergasted and giddy.

Picking up with 'Chuck' on Netflix, which is rare as I'm usually 2-3 years behind Pajibans with TV.

Once again, a lot of totally enjoying the show in the house, and throwing our hands up and going "how can anyone NOT be watching this!" which was pretty much what we said about 'Veronica Mars' so... *sigh*

Glad it's back. Hope it stays.

Yay!! I watched the first two seasons of Chuck over the past 2 weekends and fell thoroughly in love with it. And then I found out that this great, light, fun show is on its way to the guillotine...Thank God that we'll be getting some more of the Levi goodness, Strahovski kick-ass and Baldwing grunts!

Posted by: astounded at May 18, 2009 9:10 AM

I'm hoping for Reaper to make it, although the CW is more more interested in 90210, which is it's own special kind of hell.

Posted by: Mrcreosote at May 18, 2009 9:20 AM

hurray for chuck!!! this totally made my morning!!!

Posted by: mossbum at May 18, 2009 9:28 AM

Way to start off a Monday Fox. Terminator needs a SciFi pick-up.

Posted by: Cindy at May 18, 2009 9:34 AM

Awesome. This is one of the few network shows that my wife and I faithfully watch. It's creative, funny, and not another cop/csi show.

Posted by: GV Black at May 18, 2009 9:58 AM

YAY!

Ah, Seth, once again you make my Monday morning bright.

I'll get the whip out on those in my employ regarding R&D on the go-go-gadget spine (tm) with copter attachment, post haste. Maybe you won't need that rickshaw at BaconEast.

Posted by: lizzieborden at May 18, 2009 10:07 AM

OMG I AM SO EXCITED!

Posted by: dene at May 18, 2009 10:33 AM

Yay! If Reaper were somehow to survive I'd do Numfar's Dance of Joy.

Posted by: Julie at May 18, 2009 10:35 AM

About the cutting of everybody but those three: I'd be ok with that as long as Jeffster is playing in the background.

Posted by: chayes at May 18, 2009 10:37 AM

yay for chuck - i can't be completely jaded just yet i guess. though canceling the unusuals pushes me a step closer. i really dug that show...

Posted by: aprileee at May 18, 2009 10:47 AM

Now that the moronic Tyler Labine is off the show I hope they renew Reaper. To whoever came up with the Sock falls in love with his step sister storyline, what were you thinking? The only real reason to watch is Missy Peregrym. And now that they've added Jenny Wade, mmmmmmm.

Posted by: John W at May 18, 2009 10:50 AM

Chuck - sweet, sweet news. It should be easy to cut a character considering the direction the story took in the season finale.
Reaper - This show has progressively gotten better, especially since the addition of the cute and funny demon girlfriend. It would be a shame to lose.
The Unusuals - Very good show that could be great if given some room to breathe. Man, FUCK the networks. Buncha douchefaced cunt-twats.

EEE CHUCK CHUCK CHUCK! Looks like all those ritual sacrifices to the TV Gods have paid off. Also, mmm Zachary Levi in the pool. Did anyone else find him to be progressively more delicious as the series went on? Now the evolution of his tastiness can continue!

Posted by: Smithy at May 18, 2009 11:00 AM

The power of Pajiba: I've never had a remote interest in watching Chuck. Not because I have a negative opinion, it just flew under my radar. After I keep reading how great "Chuck" is I have decided to follow the Pajiba masses and give it a try. You ass holes better not lead me astray....
*shutters at "Dollhouse"*

I AM SO HAPPY!

I couldn't go on without my Zach Levi or my Adam Baldwin or my Yvonne Strahovski or my continuous stream of geeky popculture references. Well, I could. But I'd be damn pissed about it.

Posted by: PaleoLithchick at May 18, 2009 11:16 AM

YEAH CHUCK!
BOO Unusuals! I was getting into it, and since every other fucking show I watch is getting cancelled, I had hoped this one was going to stay.

On a semi-related note, how low have we sunk when the godtopus damn CARTOON network has a slew of REALITY shows planned for the schedule? How hard is it to find enough cartoons to fill a week?

Posted by: chad at May 18, 2009 11:28 AM

@chad - Do not even get me started on how craptacular I feel at the idea that Cartoon Network will rebrand itself as "CN" as they want to begin offering more live action programing over cartoons.

There are already enough kid oriented shows that show plenty of flavors of pablum crap for kids. Cartoon Network used to at least offer programming like "Powerpuff Girls" and "Dexter's Lab". Now it's all "Chowder" (which DOES kinda look funny) and "6Teen".

Bring back the funny, Cartoon Network. Kids pretending that they're hunting ghosts in a delapidated house is just sad.

-Power ring and I'm out...

HUGS FOR EVERYONE!!!

And thank you for posting a wet Levi & Baldwin as opposed to Strahovski. Not that she's not all kinds of pretty, it's just those men are yummy.

Posted by: Kayanne at May 18, 2009 1:39 PM

GL, did you watch Samurai Jack? That shit was THE SHIT. Actually, I'll say anything Genndy Tartakovsky touched was gold back then. Oh and when he did those Clone Wars Cartoons? Damn Mace Windu! I didn't know you had that in you.
Damn! I just looked at his Wikipedia (I know, I know, grain of salt) but he wants to do a cartoon series of The Dark Tower Series! I ... I... I am a bubbling cauldron of nerd excitement! And he's doing story boarding for Iron Man 2?!!!

Posted by: Optimus Rhyme at May 18, 2009 1:40 PM

Great news about Chuck. To be honest I got very tired of the 'will he ever kiss her' story line. Hopefully they will get heavier into the silly spy stuff with Chuck's new abilities.

Posted by: EricD at May 18, 2009 1:45 PM

The cancellation of The Unusuals is the last straw for me. I absolutely refuse to start watching anymore new shows on network television.

The rare times when I find something I actually truly enjoy and look forward to seeing (must-see, if you will) it's always a series the masses have no interest in, and inevitably ends up cancelled long before its time.

Yet there appears to be a second season of some stupid reality game show called Wipeout? Really?

As it stands right now I'm down to Castle (cute enough show and, well, Nathan Fillion), Big Bang Theory, Lost, and a certain Thursday night show I am loathe to even admit to viewing.

At this rate I'll be TV-free within the next couple of years.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I loved the unusuals. That hurts my heart :(

Posted by: letsspoon at May 18, 2009 2:08 PM

Jeffster lives!!

Posted by: Melissa at May 18, 2009 5:04 PM

We ALL love the Chuck, so sure I'm thrilled it's coming back but you guys are putting tears of love in my eyes for your kind words about 'The Unusuals'.
It had the potential to become one of the best things any network has come up with in a while and ABC never gave it a fair chance. Good to see so much Pajiba-Love & Mourning for a show that I will greatly miss.

Posted by: Spender at May 18, 2009 5:28 PM

Aw shit, I was really loving The Unusuals. I had a feeling it was going to get canned, though.

Posted by: Mimi at May 18, 2009 5:52 PM

Damn. I was really starting to love the Unusuals. Daaaammmmn.

Shit. I'm really gonna miss it. And I've only seen two episodes. I was looking forward to seeing how it was all gonna turn out for those crazy cops.
