NBC Manages to Fuck “Scrubs” One Last Time
Bitter to the End / Seth Freilich

Trade News | September 10, 2008 | Comments (27)

the-todd.jpgLast week, “Scrubs” filmed its season finale. Which is also likely to be its series finale (though a rating boon on its new ABC home could see it invited back for another season). And apparently creator Bill Lawrence wanted to have the episode chock-full of folks who had shown up over the years. But two of those people are currently on NBC shows and the peacock decided not to let them play. So “Heroe’s” Masi Oka and “Chuck’s” Sarah Lancaster won’t be around for the little reunion.

Said Lawrence about NBC’s move: “Typical classy stuff.”

And with dick moves like this going on behind the scenes, NBC wonders why it can’t climb out of the ratings basement. Stay classy, NBC.

As long as there's HOOCH!! I don't mind.

Guess Coxy won't through a hissy in the lab again though.

The Todd and Janitor need to ride off into the sunset together, either as a romantic resolution or as a spin-off show.

Perry Cox is my God.

True cocksniffitude.

Posted by: Maryscott O'Connor at September 10, 2008 11:31 AM

David, the full name is Percival Cox.

No gift shop girl? No lab tech?

Stupid frickin' NBC.

As long as it gets the send-off it deserves, I am cool. Don't forgot to mention that the episode that stood in as the season finale was an episode that was aired horribly out of order and was not even the correct one. Screw NBC. Bastards! Bastard coated Bastards with Bastard filling!

Those of you who don't have Firefox: have you noticed that dinosaur is about to bit her breast off in the snorgtees ad?

Posted by: PaddyDog at September 10, 2008 11:38 AM

We'll know if it's the series finale if they say the Janitor's name.

Shame on you, Seth. You know full well that any mention of "Scrubs" in the Pajibaverse needs to be accompanied by the Turk dancing to Poison by Bel Biv Devoe video or the "Sanford and Son" moment.

I agree with Amanda47 as long as Hooch and his RAGE make a reappearance i otherwise couldn't give less of a fuck this show is ending.

I'll miss Cox and his kid Jack and that....is all she fucking wrote

Frankly, I just want someone to edit together all of Perry Cox's finest moments and run THOSE as the finale. But I'm not a habitual Scrubs watcher, just someone who realizes that her romantic future is far more likely to resemble the relationship between Cox and Jordan than anyone else on that show.

Also I'm someone who has a deep and special hatred for Zach Braff.

They should have done a quick cut to two cardboard figures labeled "Franklyn" and "Gift Shop Girl", along with a sign or graphic reading "Thanks, NBC!".

I hope they invited back Knife-Wrench

Hooch is CRAZY.

Posted by: Julie at September 10, 2008 12:17 PM

Hooch is seriously crazy.

I hope the last episode is just hooch shooting up the hospital, then, right before turning the gun on himself, he shoots a bunch of NBC executives who were in the hospital being treated for the Clap.

Let's hope Braff can scrounge up some indie gold for the blood-spattered montage.

I meant Throw. Damn it. Janet.

Absolutely gotta use this clip http://www.youtube.com/v/2ODhWpulNiE&hl=en&fs=1 (if not Poison)

We are not worthy to use The Full Name, Melody. Our lot is to bask in His wisdom and glory, and to use the name that He has afforded us in hopes that, some day, He will look down upon us and and give us the Shoulder Pat that will sustain us into the afterlife.

The Cox be with you, [rotating girl's name].

And also with you.

Not that I care about Scrubs - it's one of the more annoying sitcoms for me - but this is just more evidence that NBC sucks. In the wake of their horrible "live" Olympics coverage, they shouldn't expect my viewing patronage anytime soon.

Knife-Wrench

For Kids!

Cox is my tv divorced ex-husband whom I still live with. I find egotistical self-hating narcissists hot.

I am like Jordan. Sadistic, evil, and I do about 8 days of actual work a year. Therefore, David, you are girl's name.

Shirley, Shelia, Gladys, Betty, yes, Betty..

Betty..

At the very least, Scrubs will finally be able to rest easy after this is done. Well done my good and faithful sitcom. Well done.

Fuck NBC. Masi Oka as Franklin the Lab Technician is one of my favorite bit characters. Every time I remember him cuddling his microscope from raging Dr. Cox....siiiiiigh.

I wonder if they'll bring back Brendan Fraser's Ben. As a ghost. Or a ZOMBIE.

Anybody else rooting for Elliot to end up with Janitor, happily ever after?

No?

Posted by: Tammy at September 10, 2008 4:16 PM

Listen there, Dorothy. I'm going to go ahead and write you out a prescription for a pair of testicles. Make sure you get that filled. Okay?

Posted by: greer at September 10, 2008 7:12 PM

Tammy, noooo! Janitor must end up with Todd! And they can be "Legal Custodians"!

"Murder She Wrote!"

Posted by: figgylicious at September 10, 2008 8:43 PM

"Anybody else rooting for Elliot to end up with Janitor, happily ever after?"

Totally. (Although she deserves to end up bitter and alone forever for what she did to Keith. No, I still haven't forgiven her for that.) But not as much as I'm rooting for a Dr. Cox/Hugh Jackman smackdown. Of course my tv would explode from all the awesomely awesome awesomeness that would entail, but it would be (as Dr. Cox himself would say) WORTH IT!

Noted: I'm not the only one here who completely identifies with Jordan. Loving that.

Oh, and suck it, NBC. Suck it hard. HOOCH!

Posted by: Elfrieda at September 11, 2008 4:02 AM

Elfrieda: A Dr. Cox/Hugh Jackman smackdown would be epic! Oooh, now I really hope it happens.

I will miss Scrubs.

Posted by: io at September 11, 2008 10:50 AM

I totally love Dr. Cox...he's probably the only one I really am into when I watch the show. He has pitch perfect comedic timing. Braff occasionally does but he can be a little superficial, while Cox is far more believable...I'm not sure why I'm talking about Scrubs. It's an ok show...I don't really care if it gets canceled either. TV sucks anyway...
