Well it didn’t take very long for NBC to decide to cancel Christian Slater’s “My Own Worst Enemy.” The show’s ninth episode, the last in the can, is scheduled to air on December 15, and it’ll be the show’s last. Not a surprise, given the heavy level of cheese and the fact that it was doing pretty terrible in the ratings (third place). And given the quick yank, there won’t be any resolution for fans who are into that sort of thing (while I’ve been watching the show, I wouldn’t consider myself a fan by any stretch, and couldn’t give a shit about resolution of anything).

It is a surprise that NBC has also canceled “Lipstick Jungle.” Actually, not so much a surprise that the show is being killed (its ratings were beyond abysmal). The surprise is just that it took the network so damn long. The show’s got a full half-season (13 episodes) in the can, with episode 8 scheduled for this week. NBC will let it air out the rest of the episodes, and folks expect that “Friday Night Lights” will take over its crappy Friday time slot in January.

I ask because I do not know, how is Life on Mars doing so far?

I knew this was doomed from the first time I heard about it. Christian Slater vs. Christian Slater? That's twice I won't watch.

I hope he was kind to the people he met on the way up....

I've been kind of watching My Own Worst Enemy because Christian Slater is the childhood crush that has never gone away, but I'm not too sad to see this cancelled. It really is pretty crappy. Oh well, I'll just have to console myself by watching my "Pump Up the Volume" and "Heathers" DVDs.

Doesn't make a difference to my Monday nights at all now that Enemy is gone. They could get rid of Heroes at this point too and I wouldn't mind, this season has been pretty horrible, though it's at least improved over the last aborted season. I will be sad if they ever cancel Chuck, though. That's how you do cheese right.

I have a theory.

(I have lots of theories, actually, formulating theories is what I do while I'm designing tinfoil head wear.)

Every time NBC advertises a new show during the Regal Cinema bullshit "The Twenty" advertising segment before movies? That show is doomed to failure. Don't even bother to watch, it'll be lucky to last a season.

"The Twenty"'s tagline should be, "Come early, and see what shows we'll be canceling after six weeks."

My favorite part of the NBC adverts for Enemy are the ridiculous claims they make to try and get you to watch the show.

"Christian Slater, in the role that everyone is talking about."

We are?

If I'm not mistaken, that will likely put Friday Night Lights up against either Terminator or Dollhouse on Friday nights. If it's the former, that gives me a nice one-two punch to kick back and relax with. If it's the latter, I will simply have to forget about Friday Night Lights. Nothing is getting between me and Joss Whedon. No matter how awesome Explosions in the Sky are (oh my god, they are so fucking amazing).

Senor Sassy says "Sassy".

The only person I'm sorry for is Alfre Woodard. Between her turn on Desperate Housewives and now this hot mess, she needs to fire her agent and go find some roles worthy of her talents.

Yep, I saw this one coming from the second I saw the first trailer. Didn't bother watching a single episode.

What the fuck? Lipstick Jungle wasn't canceled already? Huh. Shows ho much I care.

Oh hey, speaking of bad TV, did anyone catch that 'Legend of the Seeker' thing this past weekend? I wanted to, just to see how much it sucked, but missed it. Was it as terrible as it looked?

I did watch "Enemy", and really, the only good parts were Tom/Raymond (the other split personality besides Christian Slater's who was so much better done) and the "Butterfly" gag, where the superagent personality was doing all kinds of freaky sex moves to regular-guy personality's wife. So while she was raving about whatever freakiness they did the previous night, Slater is completely confused. I gotta say, taht was hilarious.

This show was sooo ridiculous, but Damn, that lingering crush I have on Christian Slater compelled me to watch it. I will not miss the show, but I already miss CS.

And, Vermilion, I believe it was the 'Hummingbird'. The mind reels.

I love CS. I even mildly enjoyed the show. The idea of CS playing the nice guy was intriguing.

Sniff.

Sorry, I guess I'm the odd man out here. But I like the show. It was a bit ridiculous and that was what I liked about it. It didn't try to take itself seriously, and I enjoyed that! I guess that my imagination is just better than most.

I still equate Christian Slater to both football and White Zombie, all because of Broken Arrow.
