My Favorite Ginger

Must I really say more? Ginger!

More than that? Look at the picture!

After his fantastic turn as Charlie Crews in the tragically canceled Life, and his sadistic Rizza in The Escapist, I’ve decided Lewis is the redhead for me.

Okay, okay, I’ll pretend this has something to do with news. (Insert loud sigh here.) One of the Santana Brothers projects announced at Cannes is Man is Wolf to Man, is a story inspired by true events. Picture this: French Guyana, 1934. “A group of foreign prisoners escape from a penal colony only to be tracked down by a ruthless bounty hunter. The group’s escape route out of the forest, Mal Paso San Pedro, which promises to lead them to salvation, is more of a moral test, where the characters betray each other along the way.” The film starts shooting this fall and also stars Pihla Viitala and Vinzenz Kiefer.

British producers/directors Dominic and Lee Santana have a pretty cool site where you can read about the project in depth.

Man is Wolf to Man, along with a romantic drama, Coronet, (starring Ralph Fiennes and Olga Kurylenko) will be the directors’ first feature films.

Oy. He creeped me out forever with his portrayal of a man in the movie Keane (2004). Good actor, superb, even, yes. But...ugh. Can't get past that performance.

Normally Id feign outrage that this is the only ginger person getting mediocre recognition but it is Damian Lewis and he is more awesome than I have ginger hair... Still he is an old-Etonian and that makes everyone less cool. For example, David Cameron, Dominic West (in real life he seems to be an affable anti-Mcnulty) and Ranulph Fiennes. Oh Ranulph we know its awesome that you cut off your own fingers and that you climbed up you own arse for charity, but when it comes down to it you still blew up the dr. doolittle set because you thought it was a travesty... prick.

The only person more awesome than Damian Lewis in Band of Brothers is the actual Major Winters. (It's actually kind of weird to me that's he's - as far as I know - still alive, as he seems literally too great to be true!)

My first encounter with Mr Lewis was The Forsyte Saga and I hated him. Second encounter was Dreamcatcher. Ugh. Then I saw Band of Brothers and I swooned. THEN came Life and I'm hopelessly smitten with the man. I'll be seeing this movie.

I'm happy that he's found work after "Life" got cancelled. He is a brilliant actor.

Also, I'd bang him ten ways till Sunday. Yummy....

Every time I see the words "life" or "Damian" or "Lewis" on this site I hope to read the excellent news that one of my favorite shows will be brought back to... um... life.

Alas.

Still, it's good to see that Mr. Lewis is being recognized. I hope that his future offers more opportunities to seize up on the core of his performances from BoB or Life than Dreamcatcher.

Good grief, but that man is simply scrumptious. The Forsyte Saga, Band of Brothers, -- mmmmmmm. It's just a crying shame that Hollywood can't figure out what to do with him; he's way too good for most of what he's done in the States (Dreamcatcher was simply rotten).
