I Think This Is a Great Idea

I think this is a great idea.

Midnight Run is an absolute classic, and easily one of my favorite non-gangster Deniro films. It’s got a brilliant cast — Deniro, Charles Grodin, Dennis Farina, Yaphet Kotto, Joe Pantaliano and John Ashton. I think this is a great idea. Directed by Martin Brest, its story of a bounty hunter charged with getting a crooked accountant across country. Hijinks ensue in spades. I think this is a great idea. If you haven’t seen it, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Plus, it has some of the best swearing you’ll see. I think this is a great idea.

Of course, as is an inevitability with the best movies (hell, with crappy movies too), a sequel is being planned, albeit 20+ years later. I think this is a great idea. Universal has Timothy Dowling (Role Models) tapped to write the script, which will once again feature Robert Deniro, and team him up with a younger character. I think this is a great idea.

I think this is a great idea.

I think this is a great idea.

I think this is a great idea.

I think this is a great idea.

Fuck. It’s not working.

@mswas, Kindly do the same for the rest of us cuntnugget.

TK, Midnight Run is a very good movie, back before De Niro starting cashing his chips and coasting. Thanks to this post though, we've found our Pajiba-ite Douchebag of the Day.

*shrug* Let them take a shot at it. It won't ruin the original, and if a sequel is this long after the fact, at least it's not a completely shameless cash grab.

Of course, (SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE ORIGINAL) it is a bit of a letdown to learn that De Niro's character is still a bounty hunter and that the coffee shop failed. It sort of undermines the original's ending. (END SPOILERS)

I'm fairly certain, despite the fact that I've not seen the film, that mswas was quoting it, bignick.

So I should see this? Noted.

Thanks to Anna, who has a clue.

Oh, burn.

Isn't The Bounty Hunter a reboot of this classic?

I'm with you bignick. I love it when someone just lets loose on some of the smug bastards on this site.
