Meet the New Bond Girl: 'Femme Fatale' Léa Seydoux

French actress Léa Seydoux (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Blue Is the Warmest Color, Inglourious Basterds, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) has landed a role as Bond 24’s “femme fatale.” The 29-year-old award-winner will co-star with Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris; and while I get the whole Bond Girl thing, I hope she’s playing a superclever girl who at least comes close to tripping up our man, Craig. Seydoux won over director Sam Mendes and the film’s producers even though the script specifically called for a “Scandinavian actress.”

As usual, there aren’t a ton of details about the next installment; filming will take place in Morocco, Austria and Italy’s Campania region, and a big car chase will reportedly be shot along Rome’s Via delle Quattro Fontane. After being spotted with Craig in Marrakesh, rumor has it Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Low Winter Sun, Welcome to the Punch, Zero Dark Thirty is playing the big Bond foe; but I don’t see him as the Jaws-like character “Hinx” previously reported being sought.

In other news, Rhianna may be performing the Bond 24 theme song, and Dynamite Entertainment has obtained licensing to adapt a James Bond comic series.

Veteran Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (The World Is Not Enough, Skyfall, Casino Royale, Die Another Day) are handling the script, and filming begins this December. Bond 24 hits theaters November 6, 2015.
