Me, I'd Go After Mom and Dad

I can’t blame Hansel and Gretel for being pissed. Sent off into the woods to die, enticed into a cozy home to be forced into slavery/captivity and having to commit murder to save their own lives - who the hell wouldn’t be pissed? But me, I’d go after Mom and Dad first. Or should I give them a pass merely because they’re my parents? Nah.

But, the Hansel and Gretel of Tommy Wirkola’s (Dead Snow) Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters are grown up and directing their ire at witches. Wirkola promises they’ll be merciless; the action/horror/dark comedy film will be filled with blood and gore. Seems appropriate to the oft toned down Brothers Grimm vision.

The really cool news at hand are the reports today that Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Town) and Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will play the angry adults set to take their revenge. Though the signatures still have to hit the dotted line, the news comes from Renner himself who says, “I liked Dead Snow, and I like seeing that Scandinavian directors have a combination of horror and humor. I think Hansel and Gretel will be awesome. I play him and Noomi Rapace plays Gretel. They have become adults, are damned and going on witch hunting.”

I’m with you Jeremy, just don’t forget where all this started - circle back home when you’re done with those hags.

Tommy Wirkola is insane. But I like it.

Does this mean H&G get first crack at Ann Coulter?

That's probably just wishful thinking.

Jeremy Renner is the gritty Hansel who single-handedly kills the evil witch during the once-upon-a-time wars. However, his befriending of a young wolf almost undermines his militant desire to kill his evil stepmother, (who's a real bitch...errrrr witch.)

I am sorry, but Dead Snow was mostly terrible. That is all..... I like Renner though, so maybe he read the script and it was better.

This sounds really great but I'm just curious, is this going to be in English? Seems like Renner's the only English speaking person involved. I wonder how Noomi's acting will be in English. I'm excited to see what she can do outside of the Milenium triology, in new roles but keeping it on the dark side.
