According to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel is currently and quietly looking to expand its tentacles even further into the network by spinning off Agents of SHIELD. There is no word yet on which characters would make the transition to the new series, and there doesn’t appear that a backdoor pilot will be written for the spin-off. Rather, EW says, the storyline this season will lay the groundwork for the spin-off series and by the end of the season, “the spinoff concept should be clear.” (One would assume it would involve the Inhumans, right?).

it’s still too early to say if the spin-off series will get a greenlight. After all, ABC hasn’t even officially picked up Agents of SHIELD for another season (although ratings, once DVR viewership is taken into account, are decent, though not outstanding).

I wouldn’t read too much into this just yet, but the fact that Marvel is quietly working up a spin-off for Agents of SHIELD may not not bode well for a second season of Agent Carter, although EW says that Carter still has around a 60 percent chance of being renewed for a second season.
