Rumors about a Mad Max 4 film have been floating around since… well, since that lunatic shit festival Beyond Thunderdome came out. But for the most part, the only thing we’ve gotten out of the series since then were a bunch of “Thunderdome” and “Master Blaster jokes” and bad memories. Well, George Miller is now on track with Mad Max 4 for real for real.

Only a couple of things are going to be a little different this time. First, no Mel Gibson.

Wait, what? A Mad Max film without the character who is Mad Max? That sounds like Empire Strikes Back, but with someone else playing Han Solo. How is that even possible?

Easy. It’s going to be done as anime. Yup, Mad Max 4, according to, Mad Max 4 will be fully animated, and in 3-D to boot. It’ll be like Bolt, but with Apocalypse themes, limb severings and tricked out Ford Falcons.
