I honestly think that “uncomfortable assumptions” is the kindest thing I can say about this latest leaked exchange (via Buzzfeed) between Sony studio co-chairman Amy Pascal and producer Scott Rudin about what Pascal should ask Obama at a fundraiser “at this stupid Jeffrey [Katzenberg] breakfast.”

“Would he like to finance some movies,” responded Rudin.

“I doubt it. Should I ask him if he liked DJANGO?” said Pascal, with Rudin replying “12 YEARS.”

“Or the butler. Or think like a man?” continued Pascal, who is a major donor for the Democratic party and President Obama.

“Ride-along. I bet he likes Kevin Hart,” said Rudin.

So, they think a guy who has professed a love for shows like Homeland and The Wire and True Detective might like Ride Along because it stars a black guy? And he’d obviously love Django and 12 Years because …. slaves?

He likes Boardwalk Empire and Star Trek, and you’re just going to assume that her MUST love Think Like a Man. That doesn’t strike me as a movie in Obama’s wheelhouse.

These Sony leaks may have made Adam Sandler and Angelina Jolie look bad (and Joel McHale look great!), but mostly they just show that Scott Rudin and Amy Pascal are kind of terrible people.
