I know most of you read that headline and immediately went out to burn down an orphanage, just out of spite (No! Not the orphans!). After all, Adult Swim is the home to “Family Guy” reruns and “Squidbillies,” among other bullshit, but bear with me.

According to the producer:

The Black Dynamite Animated Series further chronicles the exploits of Black Dynamite and his crew. Executive produced by Carl Jones (The Boondocks, Freaknik: The Musical), the series features the voice talents of Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley, Byron Minns, Clifton Powell and JB Smoove.

It might actually work. Also, look at that header image. Just look at it!

We’re suppose to be cynical bastards around here, but I’m bucking the trend and going with cautious optimism on this one. Now excuse me while I go catch up on some Venture Bros.

If you think Squidbillies is BULLSHIT. Then you sir are a faggot.

Posted by: Sad Rockstar at October 5, 2010 5:47 PM

I am more excited than two fat motherfuckers fighting over a pork chop.

785 BC!

If you think Adult Swim is only about Family Guy reruns and you have no idea what Squidbillies are then you sir, are an idiot.

Go do a write-up on American Idol or some other bullshit.

who the hell is this clown anyway?

Adult Swim has some amazing shows. I loved Black Dynamite but this already looks kind of terrible. It was an awesome movie partly because it looked goofy and low budget, not like some sleek new anime movie.

Posted by: wonderbreadhead at October 5, 2010 6:30 PM

talking shit about Squidbillies?! I oughta put a double duce ass whoopin' on you

Posted by: c at October 5, 2010 6:36 PM

Dan Halen would NOT be pleased.

Sheila, hold my calls...

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at October 5, 2010 6:41 PM

Sad Rockstar, if that is how I am to be known, than so be it. I stand by my position. Squidbillies sucks.

Posted by: Willis Reynolds at October 5, 2010 6:48 PM

I stand by my position. I don't get the Squidbillies.

Posted by: Willis Reynolds at October 5, 2010 6:48 PM

FTFY

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at October 5, 2010 6:53 PM

Yessssss. This makes me happy.

And Squidbillies DOES suck.

Posted by: MelBivDevoe at October 5, 2010 7:08 PM

"Dy-o-mite! Dy-o-mite!"

I'm there.

Posted by: Green Lantern at October 5, 2010 7:30 PM

Squidbillies does suck, but I have a feeling this show will very much NOT suck, because it's from one of the producers of The Boondocks (and drawn very much the same style) and The Boondocks are awesome. So, win for Adult Swim.

Posted by: ChristianH at October 5, 2010 7:32 PM

Squidbillies is bullshit, mutant - mother -raping bullshit. Almost as bad as the miserable Tim and Eric, literally the worst things on televison ever.

OTOH, Venture Brothers. So this stands a chance.

Posted by: Meander at October 5, 2010 7:34 PM

I do not agree with you, Meander. Tim and Eric have an awesome show (see what I did there?).

Posted by: superasente at October 5, 2010 7:42 PM

Word.

Posted by: RobP at October 5, 2010 7:45 PM

Damn! No love for Squidbillies? I feel like Snoop Dogg at the Source Awards in 95.

Adult Swim is all about The Boondocks. And it will now be about Black Dynamite.

Posted by: Littlejon2001 at October 5, 2010 8:16 PM

A Black Dynamite animated show?

I'm so excited, I threw that shit before I walked in the room!

Posted by: Fredo at October 5, 2010 8:33 PM

Boondocks and Metalocalypse give me hope for this.

Posted by: Cory at October 5, 2010 8:50 PM

1) Mad ups Schmildog (you know I've never tried to spell that, and likely will never again).

2) Fuuuu-uuuu-uh-uh-uh-uuuuuuuck SquidBillies. I am dumber by virtue of that show simply existing.

3) I kind of see (hope) this show as a blend between the surrealness and biting humor of Venture Bros with the animation style and attitude of Boondocks. Maybe (absolutely) I'm being overly optimistic but I'll always hold out hope for a new Williams Street production, especially if the source is as awesome as Black Dynamite and the production team has help from the Boondocks.

And finally, will all you other commenters shut up. You'll wake up the bitches.

I'm game

Dynomite! Dynomite!

Posted by: Candy at October 5, 2010 11:11 PM

Lovin that plenty of people here are fans of the boondocks. I've got hopes for this show.

Posted by: Sage at October 6, 2010 8:04 AM

I adore the Boondocks, this last season was the best by far, fingers crossed McGruder will give us another one.

Black Dynomite is so righteous!

Posted by: Mebe at October 6, 2010 1:04 PM

Does this mean no sequel?

Posted by: Jay at October 6, 2010 1:27 PM

Posted by: GetMunnyHunny at October 6, 2010 6:09 PM

Your an ass Squidbillies is hilarious, it's not the shows fault your too damn stupid to "get it". And other bullshit? I never read your sh*tty little blog or whatever this crap is and I doubt I ever will again. How many people watch adult swim? Moron.

Posted by: Nate at October 6, 2010 7:57 PM

Fuuuu-uuuu-uh-uh-uh-uuuuuuuck SquidBillies. I am dumber by virtue of that show simply existing.

Just wanted to see that again.

Posted by: Meander at October 6, 2010 10:14 PM

Squidbillies is ONLY funny to me because i know real people down here in the south that remind me of them.
And i am definitely ready for Black Dyna...Who the hell is interuptin' my Kung Fu?

Posted by: apollo at October 9, 2010 12:49 PM
