Deadline revealed today that Vincent D’Onofrio would return as the villainous Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in the third season of Netflix’s Daredevil. Which… isn’t really a surprise to anyone. He appeared in both previous seasons, he’s one of the best villains in all of the MCU, and they need all the strong villains they can get. Hell, they’re bringing David Tennant back for Jessica Jones season 2 and she literally killed his character off already. Of COURSE they’re bringing back the still-alive critically acclaimed bad guys!

That isn’t to say it’s not good news, though. It’s very good news. After the mystic ninja exhaustion that set in after The Defenders, it’s nice to know that Daredevil will be facing some more tangible forms of badness in the near future. And since we’re just weeks away from seeing The Punisher, it’s the right time to start building up the excitement for the ongoing adventures of the other Marvel/Netflix vigilantes.

Also joining Daredevil season three Erik Oleson, who will be taking over the showrunner duties from season 2’s Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez. He’s previously worked on Arrow and The Man In The High Castle — but can he arrange for a good hallway fight? We’ll have to wait and see.

No seriously. We’ll have to wait, because there’s no word yet on when we can expect to see Daredevil season three, let alone season two of Jessica Jones or Luke Cage.
