sackhoff-starbuck.jpgI’m a bit worried about Katee Sackhoff, because I think everyone’s favorite Starbuck doesn’t quite know how to pick shows to be on. I mean, yeah, “Battlestar Galactica” was a great call. “Bionic Woman,” while she was great on it, wasn’t such a great call. And she was going to be on the upcoming season of “Nip/Tuck,” which would’ve been a great call several seasons ago.* Now? Not so much.

Her latest decision was to sign on to Dick Wolf’s latest pilot, “Lost and Found.” I’ve mentioned this show before, and because it’s Dick Wolf (he of the “Law and Order” empire), you know it’s a procedural. This one is about an “offbeat” detective at the LAPD who ruffles too many feathers so she gets sent into the bowels of the police station to work on John Doe cases.

I don’t know what her first case will be about, but if this pilot makes it air, I suspect her last case will be to find all the missing viewers.

*(She was going to have a four-episode sting on “Nip/Tuck” but, apparently, has dropped out in light of taking this “Lost and Found” gig. That role has now gone to Rose McGowan.)

I've yet to see any conclusive proof the the greasy, unkempt, "Miss Katee" Sackhoff isn't really Karl Sackhoff.

you better watch your goddam mouth.

Nope, I don't think so.

But that's ok, nothing wrong with having a tranny fetish, as long as you are true, to yourself.

Don't let anyone tell you different.

Are you a girl? And by "girl," I mean "sissy?"

As long as I am significantly more manly, I have no problem with what some may see as "too butch." I do have a HELL-NAW line, though: Brooke Hogan.

Wait... you do know that Starbuck is a character, right? And that BSG is not a documentary?

Nip/Tuck is still around? I had one season of being really into it and completely lost track. It's real purty while being simultaneously hideous.

Slim, it's about time someone called a spade a spade! Hilarious.

Ed,

Actually, he called a heart a spade. A common misperception if you are color blind, look at it upside-down and don't really know what a stem looks like.

So is it Katee's appearance that is a turnoff, or Starbuck's behavior? As a bit of a tough chick myself, I am curious to know.

Katee Sackhoff can't act her way out of a wet paper bag, so what difference does it make if she signs up for terrible pilots?

I celebrated when they killed her off on BSG, and mourned when they brought her back from the dead.

Lindsey: From my limited anecdotal research, the more defensive and insecure a dude is, the less appealing he finds Kara Thrace.

Everybody got they somethin' -- I find a bit of rough n' tumble pretty compelling, whether it's physical or mental.

Still would though, wouldn't you.

Posted by: wildo at September 15, 2008 6:45 PM

Ahhhhh, so we are in agreement then, it's a doooode.

"From my limited anecdotal research, the more defensive and insecure a dude is, the less appealing he finds Kara Thrace."

That, in a nutshell, is why I am now divorced.

"I find a bit of rough n' tumble pretty compelling, whether it's physical or mental."

I got both! Come on over! :)

I think Katee Sackhoff is a really good actress - love her on BSG and she was the only redeeming quality of Bionic Woman. I don't find her very mannish, either. What makes her manly, that she doesn't strut around in ten pounds of make-up and four-inch heels? I really don't understand. She comes across as very feminine to me.

Lindsey, I'd love to take you up on the offer. But, my wife, while being outwardly extremely girly, will not hesitate to cut a bitch.

And by "bitch" I mean "me."

Katee Sackoff, manly? What the hell?

BTW, I think this may be less of a flop than you suspect. For instance, I would never even think of watching a Dick Wolf show (except maybe L&O reruns when I am very sick at home). However, I will definitely watch this show, if KS is involved. She was born to play a badass detective.

It was worth a shot. :)

I agree with WD above. Why aren't more people blown away by how god-awful Sackhoff is as an actor? I don't give a crap as to how she looks, whether she's butch, etc. I want her to be a convincing character on this otherwise excellent show, but instead, she sounds like a junior high schooler reading for a (minor) part in the school play.

Posted by: Shazam! at January 16, 2009 9:57 PM

That's crazy. This isn't even a show for actors. Either is "24". It's all a cartoon. I think Sackhoff is quite compelling and a good actor to boot. When she's on the screen, you really only look at her. Aside from James O, she's the best actor on a show full of not-very-good (or hysterically over-acting) actors. Actually, the Cylon ship, with its dripping tentacles and broken blood vessels, the one Starbuck "drives" back to BG in Season One, is the best actor on the show.
