'Justified' And 'The Mindy Project' Hire Two Of Your Favorite Actors As Series Regulars

By Joanna Robinson | Trade News | September 19, 2013 | Comments ()

One of my very favorite shows (Justified) has promoted one of my very favorite characters to series regular. That’s right, Jere Burns who has done an amazing job as Wynn Duffy, over the past four seasons of FX’s delighted neo-Western. I don’t know what role he’ll play in the upcoming season. Bid Bad? Unlikely ally? But I do know his eyebrows will be working over time.

I didn’t know the news could get any better or that I could love The Mindy Project any more, but they announced today that Adam Pally, my favorite refuge from the cancelled Happy Endings, will be bumped to a series regular starting some time mid-season. Oh, Max, I can’t wait.

I dreamed it was gonna be max and my dreams came true!!

I actually think Wynn Duffy is better in smaller doses. That having him there every week will be too much.

I would bet he's still in small doses. After all, Rachel and Tim are regulars and sometimes barely get a line or two. I'm just taking it to mean that he's going to have a bigger hand on one of the storylines (Boyd now working for him) but I don't think they'll over use him.

Six years as a casual Burn Notice fan, and all it took to make me hate-quit was about four episodes too many featuring Jere Burns' hateful, pointless bad guy. Don't get me wrong, he was fine enough in a role that was the epitome of stock, but I just reached a place where I couldn't stand to even look at him. No idea where this reaction came from, as I really have no feelings about the guy and found his character to be a big old nothing. Maybe I just reached my breaking point with Michael Westen's voiceovers and took it out on Burns, who knows? I hear he's really quite great on Justified, and if that face belongs anywhere, lord, is it in a (new) western.

  • Bert_McGurt

For the record, EVERYONE is quite great on Justified.

  • Bert_McGurt

God, I hope this means he doesn't have to slum it on Bates Motel anymore.

And now with Adam Pally on Mindy and Damon Wayans Jr. on New Girl, I guess all that's left is to find the ladies starring roles in something other than my depraved fantasies.

  • Uriah_Creep

Quiet, you! Those three ladies are having a smashing time in my head and are not allowed to leave. Especially my common-law wife Elisha Cuthbert.

  • Afferbeck

I like to think Duffy and Anson from Burn Notice are the same guy

  • ZbornakSyndrome

One of the best parts of Justified is its absolutely amazing ensemble. I'm just thrilled that I'll get to enjoy Wynn's cockroach-like ability to stay alive every week.

Now, can we promote Rachel to 5 lines a week?

  • dizzylucy

Wynn Duffy a season regular! The PA's are probably now rounding up all the women's tennis footage they can find.

  • Daniel Lewis

I've been binge-watching Breaking Bad these last few weeks, I'm up to early season 5. But when Jere Burns showed up on my screen, I got so excited and shouted Wynn Duffy!

  • emmalita

Both of those things make me happy.
