Judd Apatow's This is 40 Trailer: Welcome to the Back 9, Life's Sloppy Seconds
The general sense from the rest of the movie bloggeratti is that the trailer for Judd Apatow's sort-of spin-off/sequel to Knocked Up doesn't look that great, but it shows a lot of promise. I think the trailer itself looks pretty great, though the trailer song is certainly a huge boon. The main characters -- Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) -- are modeled after Apatow's own marriage to Mann, and I think when you make a movie about approaching 40, the humor is probably going to go down with a lot of wistfulness: Your life is half over, all the highlights (graduations, weddings, child birth) have been achieved, and now it's about riding the rest of it out, living through the highlights of your children, and coming to terms with the fact that, no matter how much you work out, you will never look as good as you once did. But don't EVER let that fact convince you to get an earring. EVER.
Whatever happened to dudes wearing earrings, anyhow? When did that end? Goddamn, did I miss an important cultural milestone?
