On the set of Premium Rush, our boy JGL flew through a taxi cab window and gashed his arm. He had to have 31 stitches, and I swear, you’ve never seen a dude with blood running down his arm so giddy. Check out the video. (HitRecordJoe via Anne Thompson)
“Rubicon” had the highest-rated premiere ever for an AMC original series (I think there’s only been three, but still), putting up 2 million viewers on Sunday. And nobody changed the channel because either 1) they were hanging around for “Mad Men,” or 2) they fell asleep. I fell into both categories. (Vulture)
David O. Russell (Three Kings, Flirting with Disaster) is teaming with with Vince Vaughn to make a movie called Old St. Louis, based on Russell’s own script. It’s about a “traveling salesman who has been an absentee father, and how his life changes when his daughter becomes part of his life.” Vaughn will play the father, and there’s speculation that Chloe Moretz could land the daughter role. (Deadline)
Speaking of Moretz, she’s in negotiations to star in The Rut, about a young girl who must learn the tricks of hunting and archery taught to her by her father after he goes missing. It’s based on a Karyn Kusama (Girlfight, Jennifer’s Body) script; Kusama may also direct. (LAT)
Josh Hutcherson who got denied the role of the new Peter Parker in Marc Webb’s Spider-man reboot will have to settle for starring opposite Dane Cook as his consolation prize. Ouch. It’s a horror comedy called Detention, about a group of “who must survive their final year of high school. Standing in their way is a slasher-movie killer who has seemingly come to life.” (Variety)
Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver are “in talks” to star in an upcoming thriller called The Cold Light of Day from JCVD director Mabrouk El Mechri. It’s about a young American (Henry Cavill) whose family is kidnapped on vacation in Spain. The search reveals a government conspiracy. (Deadline)
Terrence Howard is the latest name to come aboard “Law & Order: Los Angeles,” joining Skeet Ulrich and Alfred Molina. Why didn’t Dick Wolf just recast the original “L&O” with these guys, instead of creating the exact same show set in a different city? Meanwhile, the post Iron Man fall has been hard for Howard. Has anybody else heard the news that Daniel Day Lewis has been cast as Moriarty in the Sherlock Holmes sequel? Is this old news, am I just not in the loop, or is this a scoop?
Either way, I think it's great news. I just watched "The Hound of the Baskervilles" on TCM yesterday, and I may actually buy a ticket to the new one to see DDL
Yeah, I know RDJ is really cool, and makes a great Ironman, but he just ain't Sherlock. I haven't seen the movie, just the trailers. Sherlock wasn't cool. He didn't need to be.

I rewatched the Hound yesterday as well; Oh, Basil Rathbone!!! What a talent, what a nose ;) Daniel Day Lewis would be brilliant as Moriarty...but he's brilliant in anything he does. I hope you are right!

I'll kiss JGL's booboo and make it all better.
{I'm sorry, SORRY! to be a broken record. But come ON!}

So ... Vince Vaughn and Chloe Moretz may -
Nope, sorry. Paper Moon was an entirely different premise. I will have to see how this develops.

Ahhh my daily JGL fix, thank you.

I feel bad for finding that gash to be slightly sexy. Still waiting on that gratuitous ER footage, JGL...
I'm with Carlson on this one: Rubicon was good, dammit! Of course, I don't have cable and it's not on hulu, so the chances of me actually watching it are fairly slim.

Guys get that way when we're hurt. We're crazy like that.
lindsaco, don't feel bad. It's more than slightly sexy. Really, think about it. If blood weren't sexy, why would so much lingerie be red? Why would vampire stuff be so popular? Why would...wait, no. Forget it. This is definitely just me trying to rationalize wanting to postpone JGL's trip to the hospital for a few hours...

I'm glad some ladies literally want to fuck JGL to death as he bleeds out instead of going to the ER. Maybe you can jam your fingernails into the gashes, then play around in the pool of blood after his body is carted away. So many sexy options.

I also thought "Papermoon" for the David O. Russell thing. What does the "O" stand for? Nothing?
Anyway, I think Daniel Day Lewis would make a better Sherlock than RDJ. As much as I love RDJ, he is not Sherlock. Sherlock was intense and low key, carefully looking for clues in undisturbed crime scenes. Sherlock is NOT an action hero.

Wait, JGL was assaulted by a window? DEATH! DEATH TO THAT WHICH WOULD HARM THE CUTENESS!!!

I don't know if this has already shown up on this site, but Charles Dance has been cast as Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones.

I still get the feeling that people who dissapprove of a non-Basil-Rathbone Holmes either haven't seen the RDJ film, or haven't actually read any Holmes novels/novellas. When I read the books, I see essentially a 19th Century Dr. House - totally brilliant narcissist who loves to rattle the chains of his trusty partner and who goes off the rails a bit when he doesn't have an interesting case to work on. Calculated but also a totally loose cannon who doesn't play by the rules. RDJ was deliciously understated and intense whilst kicking ass - it was, for lack of a better word, fucking rad.
Also, [insert gratuitous comment about wanting to bone JGL here].

I am a HUGE Sherlock Holmes fan, read all the books as a child and grew up on the Granada series starring Jeremy Brett, and I am also a RDJ fan, but I LOATHED Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes so intensely that I nearly walked out of the theatre. As a mindless action film, it was fun and serviceable, I suppose, but as an interpretation of the Conan Doyle classic? Terrible! Sacrilege! Blasphemy! And that's just RDJ's accent! Watson punching Holmes in the face? Please!
If you would like a Holmes "re-boot" that does justice to the source material and is also a fresh new vision of it, please check out Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss' new series "Sherlock":

Agreed, very well written and can't wait for the second half.
I’d have to talk with you here. That's not really something I usually do! I like studying a post that will make people think. Also, thank you to get allowing me to provide feedback!
