Jay Leno -- The Talk Show Host of Choice for Tea Partiers

See! I knew there was a reason I didn’t like Jay Leno, other than the fact that he’s an evil, whiny, smarmy, lame hackjob of a talk-show host.

According to a poll conducted by The Hollywood Reporter, people who watch Leno are more likely to be “wealthy, Republican, red wine drinkers who like Fox News, support the Tea Party and drive American cars.”

Sounds about right.

Meanwhile, Conan supporters are “independent voters who enjoy vodka drinks, watch Comedy Central and are most likely to be single atheists who own Volkswagens.” And Letterman? “Democrats who watch Showtime and CNN, are more likely to be divorced, listen to classic rock and drive a Toyota.” Classic rock? That’s 90’s music now, right? As for Jon Stewart: “Democrats who watched MSNBC and AMC, drank beer and were most likely to be married and Catholic.”

Personality wise, I fit somewhere right in between Conan, Letterman, and Stewart. That’s about right.

Strangely, the poll also found that most the overwhelming majority of folks blame NBC for the messiness involved in Conan’s departure from the network (as opposed to Leno), while more people agree that Leno came out on top in that situation.

The Hollywood Reporter, that noted bastion of poll data where Pajiba writers go for news. Somewhere in that column is an SNL skit.

"Classic rock? That’s 90’s music now, right?"

Fuck you.

The 90's is the decade where Rock went to whine.

As far as Leno goes, you know, it's very easy to rag on Leno but he's out there EVERY night with fresh material, and he's a car guy.

^Quantity of jokes does not equal quality of said jokes.

I'll never forget the day I heard Nirvana on our local classic rock station. I did NOT have a stroke that day; clearly, somebody up there likes me.

Oh, and I don't stay up late enough to watch any of these shows.

Isn't red wine elitist? That's why I drink it.

Just because Stewie Griffin said it doesn't make it true, BarbadoSlim.

I take it Ferguson and Colbert viewers are invisible.

90's Rock will never be Classic Rock, I don't care who the hell plays it.

Red wine drinkers? Aww fuck. I've been watching the wrong news station. Or do you mean Zinfandel and Merlot? Then yeah, fuck those fuckers. Because I'm calling Bordeaux, Cab and Cab Franc for Liberals. So hands off the good stuff, Leno viewers!

Those idiots don't really drink red wine, just one glass because Dr. Oz told them to drink it.

If they expanded the study you'd see that people who watch Colbert like to drink the whole bottle then scream at the sky. Thank you very much.
