Jason Segel To Make Sex Tape, And Here's The (Last) Trailer (Parody For The Muppets)

Pajiba favorite Jason Segel seems to be getting more and more ubiquitous, and that’s not a complaint, because this is unquestionably a good thing. And it sounds like his to decision to make a sex tape romantic comedy, called Sex Tape, with either Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Rose Byrne, or Jennifer Garner. While I might do a Google Image search of the real thing, Segel re-teaming with his Forgetting Sarah Marshall director, Nick Stoller, and any one of those ladies sounds like another winner for all involved.

The movie’s premise is a cross between Dude, Where’s My Car? and Zack and Miri Make a Porno, with a dash of The Hangover, but probably much more charming: A married couple decides to make the titular sex tape one rare night away from the kids, only to wake up the next morning and discover the tape is missing. Hijinks inevitably ensue. I wouldn’t discount the possibility that the film is merely an excuse for Jason Segel to flash the movie-going public again.

Thankfully (or not, if male genitalia is what you’re into), The Muppets coming out next month, which he also co-wrote with Stoller, won’t give Segel a chance to show brain. Nor does the movie’s latest, and apparently last, parody trailer. Actually, it’s a bit more meta than that, even as it doesn’t fail to cash-in on the recent record breaking success of Paranormal Activity 3. Come to think of it, all the parodies have hit the zeitgeist, this one also includes nods to Puss In Boots and itself, about as well as “South Park” did at its peak. Here’s the new trailer, which still contains the now infamous Fozzie Fart Shoes gag:

Seeing as how Frank Oz’s feelings about Segel’s take on the Muppets are at least as recent as Paranormal Activity 3, I’d bet the retention of the Fozzie joke is purposeful. Not as a jab at Oz, but because its previous prominence (hey, that word again) would make it noticeably absent. Wokka wokka.

Rob Payne also writes the indie comic The Unstoppable Force and tweets on the Twitter @RobOfWar. He’s pretty sure Jason Segel might be from the future.

"Breaking Prawn" made me spit tea on my keyboard.

And then they had to go and EXPLAIN it. I got it the first time.

"...the now infamous Fonzie Fart Shoes gag"

"Fozzie"

(Ha. Wow. I was so hung up on whether it ended in "ie" or "y" that my brain clearly farted on the rest. Wokka wokka, indeed. -RobP)

When a Pajiba favorite starts to catch on more, everybody gets excited, but if they catch on big time, it doesn't take long at all before we're indifferent or even dislike them. Ryan Reynolds, Robert Downey Jr., arguably Andy Samberg. How long until this happens to Jason Segel? I like the guy.

It's kind of a rite of passage Lucas:

An RDJ backlash? Inconceivable. It’s like complaining that you used to like the sky, but now its blueness seems insolent.

"It's Fozzie Bear, not Fuzzy Fonzie Bear."

I guess you're right. Well I plan to keep on liking him.

The Wired story on Segel and his involvement made me soooooo excited for this movie (also, it made me kinda not like Jim Henson....which is a weird feeling...)

Why is Sarah Silverman's face in this movie? I'm dying to see it, but now, not so much.

Note to other movies: That's how you make a trailer, bitches.

Dear Brittany,
I know we haven't met, but I love you. And Toby Ziegler. I hope there is a way we can make that work.
Sincerely, BiblioGeek
