After Latino Review provoked a flurry of rumors this week suggesting that Bradley Cooper might take over the Harrison Ford title role in the Indiana Jones reboot, the Internet exploded with righteous indignation. NO! They said. How dare you sully Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull by replacing a 71 year old who clearly doesn’t give a shit anymore with a two-time Oscar nominee! We will not stand for this upgrade! If you have to make a 5th Indy, please roll out Harrison Ford’s bones so that he can scare small children with that perpetual scowl. WE WILL NOT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY.

Turns out, the rumor may not be true, according to Indiana Jones producer Frank Marshall. There will almost certainly be an Indy reboot, because Disney bought the rights, and because PROFIT. However, that doesn’t mean Cooper will take the role. After the rumors reached a fever pitch, Marshall took to Twitter and snapped: “Due to the ridiculous rumours that keep popping up, like agents’ pipe dreams, I will stop commenting on our projects until I have real news.”

Actually, I wouldn’t call that an outright denial. I’d just call that a no comment. He did, however, add this: “I can only confirm that Katy Perry will NOT be the new Indiana Jones.”

DAMMIT. Our dreams of a blue-haired pop singer wearing an cleavage-baring Elmo T-shirt facing off against a new Short Round have been DASHED.

This is the worst day ever.
