If This Doesn't Make You Want to Re-Watch About 30 Films, You're a Soulless Filmophobe

Breathtaking, folks. Watch this for a couple of minutes, and you’ll be revisiting your DVD collection and making love to your Netflix Queues. Full-on film chubby, folks. This is why Scorsese and Kubrick are considered two of the best. Right here.

Damn, this is cool.

Holy epic movie awesomeness, Batman!

Posted by: KatSings at June 22, 2010 8:25 AM

Tried to watch Shutter Island last night, shit straight up put me to sleep! Gonna have to finish that movie on Wikipedia.

Posted by: the new transported man at June 22, 2010 8:32 AM

Bliss.
Guess this makes me a soulful cinephile (try saying that 10x rapidly)
And yes, I thought Shutter Island was a tremendous waste of good material (loved the novel). Woody Allen-like, I think someóne should pry that movie camera out of Scorsese's aging hands stat before we start to forget what a master he once was...

Posted by: cinekat at June 22, 2010 8:37 AM

Damn. I think that there's actually a couple of those that I haven't seen.

Posted by: admin at June 22, 2010 8:57 AM

Inspiring.

Oh and I'll go against the grain here - I really enjoyed Shutter Island, minus the music.

Posted by: Cindy at June 22, 2010 9:05 AM

So has Dustin seen Lawrence of Arabia yet?

Billy Wilder once said, "You are as good as the best thing you ever did." Scorcese can't ruin in his legacy. Time forgives and forgets dross.

The guy who put this together also did one called Tarantino vs Coen Brothers that is worth seeking out.

Posted by: Yossarian at June 22, 2010 9:09 AM

Oh, now that was just a gorgeous way to start a day. Absolutely glorious. Reminds me why I love movies to begin with (and Kubrick was one of my earliest favorite directors. Scorcese followed not long after, though mafia stories were never really my thing).

Making love to my Netflix queue, indeed. But only for the ones I don't already have. Actually, I'll be making love to Amazon and my credit card.

I really enjoyed Shutter Island, minus the music.

Yeah, I was definitely not feeling the music. I liked the use of the boat horn in the beginning, but once they were off the boat, the score was a distraction. Maybe a Score Dork can enjoy it on some other level, but it just...didn't sound good.

My favorite opening line of a movie is:

Ever since I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster.

Thanks for the reminder.

there is no fighting in the war room....

Posted by: sara at June 22, 2010 10:44 AM

That was, quite possibly, the single coolest thing I have ever watched.

Posted by: dammitjanet at June 22, 2010 10:50 AM

Damn, that was cool. I'm at work and not sure how to shift gears
(mentally) back being at my desk. [sigh]
I'm not worthy of 'Jiblet status just yet though. I have to confess to
not being able to recall / name, several of the flicks there. If anyone
comes up with a comprehensive list, feel free to mail it to me. That
would be grand.

I am not a Kubrick fan by any means, but this made me want to go back and watch some of those movies. Even A Clockwork Orange, which I walked out of in high school.

Posted by: michaelceratops at June 22, 2010 2:11 PM

I didn't think this video was that good. The content, for sure - just not the execution. Guess I'm the lone voice of dissent.

To whoever put that together, I thank you. You gave me a boner.

And to Cap'n Rowles, for finding and posting it?

Well, I'm sending you an 8x10 glossy of the above-mentioned boner.

Thanks.

@Lauren -- I'm with you there. It didn't do much for me.

That first song is on an ad that's played every 5 minutes on Australian TV.
So all I could think about it was "Rugby Leauge?"
