Too Much Horror Business

There’s a bunch of minor news about horror flicks floating around, and since I am lazy as fuck, let’s just compile it all here. Complaining gets you a either a hatchet in the mouth or a lamprey in the crotch. Your worst enemy gets to choose.

First, from Bloody Disgusting, the poster for Hatchet II, the sequel to the campy but quite enjoyable Hatchet, directed once again by Adam Green. Here’s hoping for a bigger role for Tony Todd this time around.

Next, a clip from Insidious, directed by James Wan (Saw). Wan directed the only Saw film I actually enjoyed (the first one), so I’m a bit interested in this. Plus, it’s got Patrick Wilson. Who doesn’t love Patrick Wilson? Crazy people, that’s who. Here’s the synopsis: A family looks to prevent evil spirits from trapping their comatose child in a realm called The Further. Weird. And the out-of-context footage just makes it weirder. (via ShockTilYouDrop)

In case you need more video, you slack-jawed meatsacks, here’s the trailer for Evil Things, which would look interesting if Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project never existed. But still, I’m vaguely curious, I guess. Sort of. (via Horror-Movies.ca)

And finally, the genuinely terrifying news: Gillian Anderson and Dominic West are joining Rowan Atkinson for Johnny English Reborn. Look upon this, and tremble… (via Slashfilm)

"Evil Things"??? Great title, doucheballoons. The producers must think "subtlety" is spelled with a "huh?"

Also, for those of you watching the "Insidious" trailer on mute, the medium was whispering, "What is it about good sex that makes me have to crap? You really jarred something loose tiger." *shudder*

You guys are really driving this Gillian Anderson thing home now, aren't you?

Hey, did you guys hear -- Gillian Anderson and Dominic West are joining Rowan Atkinson for Johnny English Reborn.

Why is no-one reporting on this amazing news? Twice.

Oh, we are scathing and bitchy this morning, aren't we?

Were it Dustin that wrote this article, this is the time where he'd offer a careful explanation outlining how he and I inadvertently reported on the same thing.

But he didn't.

So sit the fuck back and shut the fuck up, you nitpicky whining fucking maggots.

James Wan is trying like hell to go three for three on badass horror films. I like his commitment to the genre. Dead Silence should have gotten a sequel for the freshness he and Leigh Whannel brought to the evil doll/puppet sub-genre. There's only so much you can do with that before you have to turn to the puppeteer. They took it a step further with an evil murderous ghost of a puppeteer being wicked on screen for 90 minutes. I remember crying in my seat during the finale because they introduced a particularly accursed, evil puppet that should bring joy but always bring sorrow and bile instead.

A haunted house kind of film from the Wan/Whannel team? I'll take a scoop of that on a cone with sprinkles any day.

Don't forget about the 'Night of the Demons' remake with Edward Furlong and Shannon Elizabeth. I had to upload this for work and was amazed of their commitment to preserving the mix of camp, skin-max level nudity and gore.

I've always been partial to the sequel myself, brings back memories of going to the video store and picking out a movie based solely on how ridiculous the cover art was. Good times.
