Hope Springs Trailer: Meryl Streep Can't Bring Herself to Go Down on a Banana

That Meryl Streep seems to be going back and forth between heavy, Oscar-baiting roles and these light-weight rom-coms for the older set. Hope Springs falls into the latter category, and the movie — which also stars Steve Carrell and Tommy Lee Jones — looks exactly like the kind of movie the matinee crowd will eat with spoon and a side of Metamucil. That is to say: Cute, harmless, and give the woman a break, OK? She’s Meryl Goddamn Streep. If she wants to make a frivolous comedy from the director of The Devil Wears Prada and Marley & Me, who are we to judge?
