Killers Ahoy!

Hail and well met, fellow purveyors of the obscure and geektastic! I have once again returned to spare you the tortured musings of the less enlightened.

(Obvious audience ass-kiss: BSG RULES!!!!!!!!)

This week, there seems to be a dearth of really geeky movie news (damn sources are too busy wallowing in con season!), but I will try my best to provide you with your dose of full-frontal nerdity.

How’s this: Hitman, the video game adaptation starring Timothy Olyphant as the titular assassin, is getting a sequel, according to Variety. So far only a screenwiter has been announced. Variety says:

Studio has hired screenwriter Kyle Ward to write a script for the movie that catches title character, Agent 47, at a low point. He must build himself back up psychologically and physically to reclaim his mantle as the world’s most feared assassin.

I am sure you are thinking the same thing I did: “Hitman? Really? It wasn’t atrocious, but it wasn’t memorable either. But a sequel?” Well when you make $100 million off a $30 million budget, your ass stays memorable to the right people. It doesn’t hurt that the new film is tied into the latest entry into the game series, tentativelyHitman 5, slated for a 2010 release. Well if they keep Olyphant, I might be able to get on board. He tends to rise above bad material.

Wait...So basically, they're doing a movie tie-in for a video game? Not the other way around? Well, hopefully it works better than when studios hire shitty third-party makers to crap out a hasty tie-in video game...

The first had Olyphant and Kurylenko (hot even with that godawful facial tattoo her character sported) and one of the coolest headshots ever put on film. If they can repeat those three things (not counting the alternate ending to the first film in which Olga's character dies), I'll definitely see it. Hell, I'll see it even if they just have Olyphant.

I think the main problem with the first film was the studio backpedaled off the religious original plotlines from the game and compensated with really weak writing.

There are few thing I like more than then movies about hitmen, but this one was like instant narcolepsy for me. It took four tries before I could stay awake long enough to finish it. So boring.

This is such good news!

A new Hitman game sounds great! I've been a fan of the series for years!

I screamed rape during the movie and nobody came to help. God is dead.

Hey, just saw this on the news- Farrah Fawcett died this morning.

Unless it's a sequel to Shoot Em Up where they resurrect Paul Giamatti, this action movie news means nothing to me.

And lets not forget the fact that he was a clone...a fucking.... clone....a goddamn fucking clone you fucking idiots, they would all look alike, sound alike, act alike, the only difference was he was the fucking best...the best fucking clone

Alright...I think I'm done.

I'm on board with this, if Olyphant is back. Still think this was the role Statham was born to play, but, what the heck, Tim brought his A game last time.
