Heroes, the Next Generation?

Last week it was announced that Jack Bender signed on as director/executive producer of the SyFy pilot Alphas, described as “…a team of ordinary citizens who possess extraordinary and unusual mental skills.” Hmm, where have I heard that before? Really, that’s the best job you could find after Lost; a Heroes redux?
At least it won’t be his only project. Bender has reportedly inked a deal with JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot/Warner Bros television, which in addition to giving him first look at TV projects, could pave the way for a feature film. The man directed most of the best episodes of Lost and he’s been in the industry since the late seventies, so it’s high time he make his move. Let’s just hope he gives us an original.
