No tears, please. It’s a waste of good suffering.

Well, it remains to be seen whether or not this is good news, so I’m not going to scream and yell quite yet. Or if it’s even news at all… Pascal Laugier is French director who is responsible for 2008’s seriously unhinged French language film Martyrs. He was also tapped to direct the remake of Hellraiser, which annoyed me to no end. Hellraiser is a far-from-perfect film, but it’s still one of my favorites from its time. It’s one of the smarter ones out there, the gore is prevalent but not clinical, and it’s got torture without getting porny about it.

Well, Laugier is now saying it won’t be a remake, but a reboot, containing “elements from both the first film and Clive Barker’s original “The Hellbound Heart” novella, (and) both the characters of Frank and Julia will be present.” So… how is that not a remake again? It strikes me as a pretty fine distinction. Regardless, I admit I am somewhat curious.

Then again, we all know what curiosity gets you…

I am about this close to refusing to acknowledge the word "reboot." Goddamn euphemism creep. Calling it a reboot instead of a remake doesn't magically improve anything.

"We will tear... your soul... apart!"

Best... horror film quote... ever!

You did it to "I Honestly Love You," right? If you are going to kill yourself to ONJ, that is really the only way to go. It would just be so...dramatic. And really, who could listen to "Xanadu" and still want to die?

I saw her live, front row, last weekend. No shit. I'm THAT gay.

This movie seriously fucked me up when I was a kid. Gave me all sorts of nightmares. Now I've watched that clip I feel kind of silly.

I'm in support of bringing the novella to life. The film did not do that and even Barker was disappointed in the technological and budgetary roadblocks that prevented it. This is the first time I can think of where the news of a remake excited me.

Would "re-tool-ing" be a more appropriate description?

As long as Doug Bradley is still Pinhead, I am ok with it. If he's not, meh.

Wait...the spambot is using blue language now?! Apparently the pull of the blue penis extends to hardware now.
