Heathcliff, Heathcliff, No One Should

By Dustin Rowles | Posted Under Trade News | Comments (14)

They’re hoping to make a big-screen live-action/CGI hybrid of Heathcliff, similar to Alvin and the Chipmunks. Magic Lantern Entertainment has secured the rights from FitzRoy Media.

What else do you need to know? Heathcliff is fat, lazy, sarcastic cat. He terrifies the neighborhood. He plays pranks on everyone.

Join in the jubilee.

Has anyone ever noticed the similarities between the theme song for the old “Heathcliff” sitcom and “Holiday Road” from National Lampoon’s Vacation? (I also have to warn against clicking on the “Holiday Road” link — it takes a supreme amount of willpower not to listen to it the entire way through).

Interesting sidenote:

In the early episodes of "Married With Children", the view of the car pulling onto the freeway is stock footage taken from Family Vacation. The Griswold family station wagon can be easily seen as the camera pans back.

Is that Heathcliff or Garfield? I can't tell the difference, and I really don't care.

heathcliff is the poor man's garfield. as a kid, i'd only watch it when absolutely nothing else was on.

Ah, Heathcliff. You, Inspector Gadget, Flying House and Superbook basically made up my cartoon watching for a time in the early 80's when my parents only let us watch the Christian channel in the evenings because we didn't have cable...

Thank God for cable and Saturday mornings.

My mother's absolute favorite story of me as a child involves me singing and dancing to the Heathcliff song. This was special because my speech impediment was so bad that it sounded like "eep clip eep clip, oh one ood a-o-ize da eighbohoo." If this movie ever see the light of day, I will be forced to hear my family sing the damn song for the next ten years.

For the love of God,I don't think that I can deal with that. I wonder if the studio could be held responsible for the multiple murders that I'll be forced to commit just to make the singing stop.

Both those songs are terrible. How cuter and more listenable were the songs posted yesterday in Pajiba love in the Children's-show-for-people-on-acid link. I urge anyone who didn't see that one to check it out. It's well worth it.

I love this.

It was like...I was barely going to be able to sit out this last hour of work, and then this comment settled me right down.

Thanks, man.

Heathcliff's cartoon was paired with some other cats' cartoon. I can't remember what it was called, but I think they lived in a junkyard? One of the cats rollerskated and spoke in rhyming couplets.

Whatever Rowles. Holiday Road rocks! I don't know man, sometimes I think you say shit just for the sake of saying shit. I've never seen a guy spew so much garbage with so little going on upstairs.
