Hawkeye's New Age of Ultron Costume Looks Rather...Restrictive

By Cindy Davis | Trade News | May 22, 2014 | Comments ()

Hmm…how’s a guy supposed to reach behind his back to grab an arrow or something? Perhaps more importantly, how’s the audience supposed to ogle Jeremy Renner’s guns if they’re covered up by his Sunday best? I mean, cool jacket and all, but unless he’s headed out to dinner with Black Widow, I’m thinking go back to the old one…

The Avengers costume:

Avengers: Age of Ultron costume:

As Comic Book Movie notes, the new duds are in line with his comic appearance, but perhaps the material should be more pliable. In that comic photo, Hawkeye doesn’t appear to have full-length sleeves.

What say you internetters?

Cindy Davis, (Twitter) awaits your rage…or lack thereof.

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

  • Nooooo, the arms are Renner's BEST PART. Damn you, Whedon!

  • Jaideep Bhide

Seems to me that they're trying to cover up Renner's scrawny arms! If you look closely, his guns aren't nearly as big as they used to be.

  • NoPantsMcLane

Maybe Renner forgot to pump up his guns this time around so they had to cover up his flabby arms?

  • BlackRabbit

    Just give him a belt-quiver.

  • michaelceratops

    The terrorists have won.

  • hater from siloam springs

Hater says Bullshit. Renner's Hawkeye is not the Clint Barton of the comics, and giving him a leftover costume from Robert Smith's 80's kit doesn't serve the cause very well.

  • mzbitca

If they take the pants they can keep the sleeves

  • The appeal of Hawkeye in the movies is (a) his arms and (b) his ability to come back with the perfect understatement. I pray these sleeves do not last.

  • Afferbeck

I'd love to see them try to work in the silly apron thing he wears in the books.

  • Repo

Face looks like he's doing a Deniro impression in the bottom pic.

  • The second picture just makes me think of the Friends episode where Ross gets leather pants and ends up trapped in the bathroom of a date because he can't get them back on.

  • The lotion and the powder have made a paste.

  • Jericho Smith

"Do these tight leather pants make my ass look big?"
    "Yeah. They do."
    "Well, let's lose the pants."
"That's what she said. But seriously. How about a coat? It'll cover up that muffin top too."

  • _Alexander_

Well it does make more sense in case this is body armor but it looks kind of shitty. In fact what's even the point of Hawkeye? Why even bring him back?

What everyone really wants in a Hawkeye costume:

  • Sean

I am so proud of you people for this response. Considering less than 40000 people actually buy that comic.

  • TK

Which is incredibly depressing, because it's goddamn brilliant.

  • Ian Fay

    You misspelled Hawkguy there.

  • TK

    Aw, bro.

  • MissAmynae

Don't you dare deny me Renner's forearms. I will CUT. YOU.

  • Jim

I'll hold 'em while you cut 'em

  • MissAmynae

    You're good people, Jim.

  • TheOriginalMRod

    Maybe he was cold?

  • A. Nonny Mouse

Hopefully that's his "winter" look. It's kind of terrible. I miss his arms.

  • That was my first reaction as well.

The tunic kind of says "Imperial Snowtrooper" to me. I don't know why.

  • The sign in the back is in Cyrillic, meaning he is in Russia, so the winter look is a good call.

  • pajiba

The fuck is that? Has he been borrowing costumes from the set of 'Priest'?

  • John W

    Looks like Littlefinger.

  • Bert_McGurt

Of course he does. Those two always end up playing second fiddle to a Stark.

    You win the internet today.

  • Al Borland's Beard

He'll probably rip them off in the heat of the moment like he's always doing in the comics.
