The latest international teaser is out for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which is coming out next July after being bumped from this holiday season. (A development that caused no small amount of worry and uproar among the fans, which I understand, but come on, it’s not like you don’t know what will happen. Besides, Warner Bros. needs to pad their 2009 revenue. It’s business.) The trailer looks like the sixth film in the series will continue to up the dramatic stakes and continue to employ solid special effects. Plus it looks like some of the kids start to get busy. I find myself in a weird position because I’ve read all the books but can’t remember some of the details of how it all shakes out, or who does what with/for whom, so I’ll show up. Enjoy:
Haha! I love the cocky asshole moment at the end, "But I am the chosen One!". Awesome.
And has anyone else worried about their choice for Ginny? I felt the actress is not exactly going to blossom into a beautiful woman ala Hermione. Has anyone seen recent pictures of her? I must worry a little. For now my verdict remains the same as Kevin McCallister's to Buzz's girlfriend, "Woof".

Ah, guilty pleasures. These books did make for easily digestible entertainment. David Yates did well enough directing the last installment, that I'd gladly go see it when it comes out but am not too heartbroken that it was bumped. It is an interesting choice to break out the last movie into two pieces and reap even more money.
Optimus, Ginny is supposed to be a Weasley after all. We don't want to antagonize our fair-skinned eloquents.

Thank you Jay.
Does this work as a pick up line? "Hi, I'm the Chosen One and I choose you as my Second"
Question - if the movie for book 6 is this summer, when are the ones for 7 scheduled to come out? Have they started filming them yet?
Posted by: Brian at October 28, 2008 10:41 AM
Optimus, mon savage, I love that you can quote Kevin McCallister. I'm not so crazy about your lack of faith when it comes to a girl's potential good looks. Puberty is hard on a girl.
I'm right in the process of doing a marathon reread of all the Harry Potters and I'm currently in the middle of book 7. While it's great to go from one book straight the next, it will never be the same as waiting in line at midnight, devouring it immediately, and then having to WAIT 2 or 3 years for the next one to come out. Modern kids won't know what that was
like.
6 is the one where Ron does all the snogging, so expect lots of Rupert Grint groping.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to Movie 6, if only to see more Snape, after all *SPOILER* he is the half-blood prince *END SPOILER*. Or do I just want to see more Alan Rickman. YES!

DH isn't shooting yet. It's set for November 2010 and May 2011.
Word is there's no "battle of Hogwarts" in Prince as there's another one and they didn't want to be repetitious, so I guess it'll just focus on Malfoy, Snape and Dumbledore (though Greyback is in there somewhere).
"Video Cannot Be Found"
Booo.
Here comes the worry and uproar!

Is it wrong to have a crush on young Daniel?
Probably less wrong than my desire for a Snape/Ron Weasley sandwich.

I have a horribly inappropriate crush on Ginny Weasley. I think she's actually quite pretty. (Then again, I'm very attracted to redheads. Go ahead, mock me if you must, but that is where I stand.)
Jay, *MOVIE 6 SPOILER* I hear that Greyback is involved in the newly added attack on the Burrow. Consequently, that will supposedly eliminate the wedding from Movie 7, or change it to Lupin and Tonks, seeing as Fleur has been 86'd and Bill was never introduced. (That, and my guess would be they wouldn't want Lupin and Tonks to have a little bastard running around. The WB won't let them do it until they have a ring on their fingers, don'tcha know.) *odd, awkward wink*
Anna I can only eat half that sandwich; Snape: yes, Weasley: no.

The thing that I love about the Harry Potter (heh, I just wrote Harry Pooter) books is that even if I've read them recently (I think it's only been about a month or so since I read the last two), I lose the details quickly. So it's always a novelty.
And I agree that there really is nothing like waiting years in anticipation for a book, and then devouring it in one sitting on the day it comes out. I did the same thing with The Golden Compass series.

Mike, Remus and Tonks ARE married. Were married. Whatever, you've all read the books so I'm not spoiling anything.
I, personally, am thrilled that they're splitting 7 into two films, because I've always thought that DH had two main plots, really; the Hallows and the Horcruxes. There is no way to do them both justice side-by-side in one three hour film. Besides, I want to stretch this bastard out until the last possible moment.

Courtney, it looked like the Burrough, so I'm guessing it's the changed version of the battle of Hogwarts/attack on Bill and Fleur's wedding.

I love a good ginger as much as the next man. In fact, let's say More than the next man. I was just speculating based on what I've seen her in. Again, I have not seen recent pics. In fact, I was just too lazy to actually look some up. I was asking the Pajiban Collective if they could weigh in on the issue. In fact, I'll go look now. AND I retract that "Woof". Well done, Ms. Wright you have blossomed into quite an oddly attractive young woman. *Checks age on IMDB* Yes. A attractive young woman. I'll keep it at that.

This trailer looks how angel food cake tastes!

Nicole, thank you for that. I guess it's time for me to go reread all seven now as pennance. (Best pennance EVER!)
I'm ready for the new screencaptures of Snape to break out in waves across the vastness that is Photobucket. Ob- viously.

WOO HOO!
I think Aveda-Kedavra'd... all over my pants.

The house on fire is Hagrid's hut.
At the end of Book 6, right when Snape and Malfoy are trying to escape, Hagrid comes out to help fight, and one of the other deatheaters sets fire to Hagrid's hut while Fang is still inside. I think that's what that scene is, if it matches what happens in the book.
Can I have in on the Snape / Weasley sandwich?

You know what I like about BSlim? He's always full of surprises. For example, I'd expect him to say that Harry Potter is for communist pansies, but it turns out that he's a fan. Go figure.

The house on fire is Hagrid's hut.
The shot at the end before the title is, with what looks like Bellatrix and two other Death Eaters setting it off. The other house before is most likely the Burrow, with someone who might be Greyback disarming Ginny.
Daniel Radcliffe is pretty effing hot, but he needs to do something about his oral hygiene (not a British joke at all, seriously look up pictures of his yellow teefs).
He was adorable on Extras.

Maybe I'm picking nits, but how can a "teaser" trailer run 1:42 and include significant sections of dialogue? I thought a teaser was usually exceedingly short and included almost no actual action from the movie.
I won't be seeing it. Order of the Phoenix was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and it's the same director this time around.

SACRILEGE, Lucas!
I will drag you there myself, prop your eyes open a la Clockwork Orange, and accept your gratitude afterwards in the form of 100 dollar billz yo'.

I've never been a fan of any of the actors choosen for the movies (except maybe the dude who played Draco Malfoy). And HBP was my least favorite of the books, mainly because it was filled with Ginny magically becoming some hot piece of ass overnight and an expert on snogging and bat bogeys, and Hermione and Ron suddenly getting their mojo on. Same with that one dimensional character tonks.
But I'm as fan-girly as you can get when it comes to Harry Potter fandom and I'll certainly be seeing this. Maybe it'll be a pleasant surprise.

I think the actress that played Ginny was actually a good pick. They've really downplayed the tension between Harry and her in the movies. If you'll remember Harry was wracked with all kinds of conflicting feeling and thoughts. Of course, That might not come up until Half-Blood prince...I don't remember... I thought it came up in Order of the Phoenix... Anyway, if you doubt that the Ginny actress will grow up into a remarkably atractive woman(chose those words carefully, don't read into it), watch Order of the Phoenix, when Harry goes to the Black house where the meeting is being held. Just after the meeting, Tonks is making funny animal faces and Ginny is laughing her ass off. If you don't study people like I do, then here's a quick lesson. If you want to know what kind of beauty a child will grow into, watch them laugh. You'll be surprised. Especially if its your child;)
